I encounter this with disconnected flash drives all the time - didn't think to report it since Windows reports them on My Computer as well.

Disabled devices still shows in tree

I recently bought a garmin gps, it plays mp3's and has both an internal memory and external sdhc memory drive.

I had expected that with the internal memory drive disabled in the portable/audio devices, that it would not show up in the tree. However it still seems to.

I can temporarily hide the drive on the tree, by enabling the drive (e: in the screenshot), pressing OK, then disabling the drive (e) and pressing OK.

However it still displays after restarting MM or disconnecting/reconnecting the device.
