check for new mouse drivers, this noise has been going on with ie and mouse drivers for the last 8 years or more.
almost every new update to either a media player or to ie will seem to cause this on someones system. the most recently know about was the wireless mouse from logitech but it is in no way only from that company. and also microsoft just released a update that messed with zonealarm and ie. but not if you did not have zonealarm, maybe that same update is messing with the sound and ie? also just to make sure check the drivers for your sound card they might have been updated also.
