So I found a little bit of a workaround, but it involves using my filter to move all the files to a different subfolder on the hard drive. Runs pretty quick with the Auto Organize files feature. I can then go into the Music Tab on the Auto Sync window, select No Filter, check & uncheck All Music, then under Location select only the parent folder of the music I want synched. So it works, but I would put better compatibility of the filter function with the sync function very high on my wish list. The way it runs now is very counter-intuitive IMO.

I'm in the same boat. I've set up a filter to only include what I want to sync to my Ipod. It's activated and working correctly. In the Sync Options box, I selected this filter, but it still shows the total # of files and space from my entire library. Yes, I have "All Music" selected, but it seems as though the selected filter should supersede the All Music checkbox. Otherwise I have to go through and check 100's of folders. Surely I'm missing something -- can anyone help?

I agree, its not practical, but its still possible. Don't forget you can also sync by location on the hard drive (by folder, etc), and at the very least you can still do it by playlist as well.

But if I'm using a filter to do my sync, and I uncheck All Music, then nothing gets synced. If i check All Music, I would think it would only sync all the music in my filter. In fact, when I look at the list of artists and albums, it is correctly showing only the ones in the filter. But for the total number of files to be synced, it displays the total number of all tracks in my library. And then it syncs everything in the library, as you said.

No, in fact in the sync options you have the choice to sync by location on hard drive, by filters, by playlists, by artists, and by albums. Make sure you don't have "all music" checked otherwise it will sync all your music.

Go into options/portable devices and select your device. Click on configure.

On the Auto-Synch list tab there is a Music tab. Click the filter drop-down and select the filter you want to implement. This implements the filter during the auto-synch.

Now, if I can just get those empty folders deleted...I'd be off to the races.

I'm having the same problem. I'm syncing with a filter that eliminates a couple of specific genres and some specific artists. In the sync list, the specified genres and artists are not there, as expected. But MM is syncing them to my iPod anyway. What's the point of having filters in the sync if MM ignores them?

I just received an 8gb Zen for my birthday yesterday, and what a joy it was to synch it with MM. Plugged it in and synched...pretty much that easy. So tonight, I thought I'd put it through its paces a bit and I noticed a couple of things. I'm hoping one of you can enlighten me.

When I did the auto-synch, it didn't remove the folders from the first synch. I can see this being a huge problem, as I have several hundred folders. Having empty folders is just poor management. I'm sure it won't affect the player, it's just one of those things that kinda irritate you, because you know it isn't right. The songs within those folders were removed as part of the auto-synch so that was good.

Can you tell me if these are bugs, user education, or done by design?
