Re. tranfer rate - it should be as fast as in iTunes (if not slighly faster) in the next release.

Just an update. I actually got a new iPod (the old one died and I had the Best Buy replacement warranty).

This one came with the USB 2.0 cable and interface and it now works flawlessly with MM. All of the Playlists transferred over fine as did the songs. My first sync was about 2100 songs. I'll probably add another 1000 or so tonight.

I love that you fixed the access error on the summary button and it lets me know the amount of content about to be synchronized. I'll also start playing around with the ratings capabilities soon too. This will be an easier and more effective means assigning ratings throughout my MM library.

Thanks again for all the hard work. I'll be eager to see if anything can be done to improve the data transfer rates.

All the issues will be fixed in the next release (alpha 2).

Usually "On rebuild database" is enough based on new tracks only, because its faster this way.

Thanks,
Jiri

iPod and the Monkey - my first test

FINALLY!!!

I got a USB 2.0 cable for my iPod and am happy to report that I am now listening to music that was transferred to it directly from the Monkey. So far I have only synched a few of my playlists, but I'm pretty happy about it. Thank you guys so much for working to make this happen.

So far, the only issue I've come across is this:
When I initially synched my iPod, I defined an Auto-synchronization list containing two of my playlists (A and B). Once I confirmed that it worked, I added two more playlists (C and D). Now when I browse the iPod by Playlists, I see A twice, B twice and C and D once. It seems to have made duplicate entries for the playlists in the database on the subsequent synchronization. I would also like to have the playlists show up sorted alphabetically on the iPod, if possible.

Also, if I click the "Summary" button, I still get an Access violation at address 006130CB in module 'Mediamonkey.exe'. Read of address 0000005C.

FYI, I have a 3rg gen 10GB iPod with the dock connector and my PC is running XP Home SP2.

Finally, what is the preferred setting under Device configuration for "On rebuild database"? Should it update based on new tracks or update based on all tracks?

Joey

p.s. BTW, I noticed that the filename of one of the songs was 64 characters (excluding directory names) and most of my songs are ripped at a VBR, no problems with them so far.
