Don't struggle too much for this.
Just download winamp lite(3 Mb only) from http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/cli ... _en-us.exe
Install it.
Then open DFX for Winamp and install it too.
Then copy C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\dsp_dfx.dll (or similar location to which you installed winamp) to C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugins\ (or similar Media monkey installation folder).
Then open Mediamonkey. Go to Tools> Options> DSP plugins > and check "DFX" from the list. [[[Not DeFX]]]
That's done.

You need to copy the folder [C:\Program files\Winamp\Plugins\DFX]

and the file [C:\Program files\Winamp\Plugins\dsp_dfx.dll]
to [C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugins\dsp_dfx.dll]

When you restart MM and enable the plugin, it's possible that DFX will not show on screen but still be active. Press Alt+Tab repetitively until you see it.

Hope it helps.

Alright, never mind... I dunno what happened but now it's working.

Is there a way to embed DFX into the MM interface?

Any clue how to get the DFX splash screen to show up when the plugin starts? I get an error message and sometimes MM hangs and I have to restart.

I gess it

I gess it's the sampling. Most DSP's will only work on 44.1 KHz.
Files ripped from DVD's have 48 KHz samples and will not work.

I found that the DFX 8.5 plugin worked on SOME of my music, but not all. I could find nothing different between the songs that worked and the songs that didn't.

Very confusing - I will be trying to find a download for the 8.3 version and test it out. It really would be a shame if I can't get this to work.

I am using MM 3 currently.

I am sorry but this method does work! I have had DFX on my system with MM for several years and have used the method I described to install it.

But (there's always a but) I have just downloaded the latest version from Power Technologies (v8.5) and it does install ok, it does give you the chance to change directory and it installs without issue, however MM 2.5.5 won't start with this plugin loaded into the MM plugins folder. There appears to be an issue with 8.5 as there has been no problem with previous versions.

If you go back to 8.3 as I have and install as described DFX runs fine.

I have emailed power technologies to let them know there seems to be some change in the latest version that is denying DFX to those MM users that want to use it.

paulmt wrote:DFX (all versions) with MM 2.5.5 and MM3.0+

All you need to do is

- Use Notebook to create a txt file called winamp.exe
- Save this in the Mediamonkey folder
- Start the Winamp DFX install
- During the install of the Winamp version of DFX direct the install to the txt file (winamp.exe) in your MM folder
- The install sees this and thinking it is Winamp proper performs the install loading the plugins into the correct MM directories etc.
- go to MediaMonkey Tools/Options/DSP plugins and check the DFX option.

Your should now have DFX up and running.
I have DFX starting and shutting down with MM.

Note!

I use SqrSoft Advanced Crossfading output plugin for crossfading, If you use this you will get two DFX events running and possible issues resulting. To use SqrSoft with DFX...

- Un-Check the DFX plugin in Mediamonkey/Tools/DSP Plugins
- Go to MediaMonkey Tools/Options/Output Plugins
- Highlight SqrSoft Advanced Crossfading and click Configure
- check the DFX plugin in the DSP folder.

You will now only have one instance of DFX running and working with SqrSoft Crossfading.

For DFX DSP version 8, after installation:

You need to copy the folder [C:\Program files\Winamp\Plugins\DFX]
as [C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugins\DFX]

and the file [C:\Program files\Winamp\Plugins\dsp_dfx.dll]
to [C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugins\dsp_dfx.dll]

When you restart MM and enable the plugin, it's possible that DFX will not show on screen but still be active. Press Alt+Tab repetitively until you see it.

Hope it helps.
