However strangely some album covers won't show up on the 4G even though my old 3G does fine with them. I've tried clearing and retagging them using MediaMonkey with no result, Is there any workaround for this?
I reverted back to firmware 1.02 and all seems fine. You might want to consider doing that. I have no problems with the old firmware.

You are using version 3.0.6.1109? 1109? are you sure thats the build you have?

My build is 1190.

and from what I gather for build 1190 there has been no fix. Is this in the works?

Has there been a fix for this yet? The album art bug still exists in MediaMonkey 3.0.6.1109 with iPod Nano 4G version 1.0.3 firmware.

I discovered another bug in the chromatic and the album art.. althought the latest version of MM does in fact fix the album art for the nano 4g, but since the new firmware release of v 1.03 pc, the album art is doing what it did when v 1.02 pc.

The thumbnails are getting mixed up with incorrect albums, as well they sometimes appear as static.

So to sum it up, v 1.03pc firmware for the ipod nano chromatic 4g and MM ver 3.0.6 .1190 are not compatible with the album art.

Perhaps a patch is in the works.

Either should work fine.

Will the album art be displayed if I just download it to the mp3 tag or do I need to have it in the album directory too as folder.jpg (or some other name)?

On another note, I noticed some complaints about the wrong album art showing, especially under "greatest hits" type albums. Try renaming the album to "Artist's(whoever it may be) Greatest Hits. Also rename the album folder. It worked for me on another player that had the same problem.
The name "greatest hits" was just an example... I have several albums with the name "number one hits" and they all show up as one album with all. Also I have a series called "sixteen most requested songs", and that does the same thing as well.

When you say rename the album to artists.. how do u mean.. do you mean the folder structure from where it came.. do u mean in the id3 tags?.. and do you actually mean for me to rename my album "greatest hits" to "Artists".. if this is the case it is ludicrous.

Am sure I am mistaken, please enlighten me.

Say you have a Greatest Hits album by the Beatles, but the album name only shows Greatest Hits. Rename both the tag and the album folder to Beatle's Greatest Hits. This stopped the wrong album art from showing on my Creative players. Maybe it won't work for iPods, but it's worth a shot.

As noted previously, the one major difference between the iTunes & MM behaviour seems to be the order in which both organise the tracks for identical names albums.

Itunes places each albums tracks in (track) order (under the generic "Greatist Hits" Album) -

"Greatest Hits"
Track 1 - Album 1
.
.
Track10 - Album 1
Track1 - Album 2
.
.
Track10 - Album 2
Track1 - Album 3
.
.
etc.

Media monkey on the other hand just seems to mix all the tracks up in no apparent order!

I am not sure it is a firmware issue.. it may very well be.. or just re-writing some code perhaps. You may know better than I, as I am green to software writing, albeit I have been involved extensively in various beta programs. So my approach to the fluidity of the device and or software is on a logical level.

Time will tell. Hopefully it can be remedied.

nohitter151 wrote:If even iTunes gets the art mixed up in that situation, I doubt there's much that the MM devs can do to avoid it (outside of some workaround like renaming your albums when they're synced)
I am not sure it is an easy assumption to make that if it occurs in itunes then it must be the golden rule. This exact same thing occurred in real player and with much prodding and tech support.. a patch was released and the issue does not occur. I used to use that as my primary music management solution. Then I discovered MM. The new v3 MM is superior to any I have tried.

My collection is substantial and would prefer a solution that is well rounded and can make it easy to enjoy my music on the computer as well as off the computer.

I am hoping that a solution to this is in the works... This view is not a terribly popular view.. but still with the advent of coverflow.. it would be nice to maintain the intention.

It would be nice if you could view coverflow by artists then album name.. it is not logical to just view by album name. I know that is an ipod issue... but just venting.
