I was able to load it successfully by unchecking the box regarding skins...

Try to reinstall after restarting your PC.

I'm stuck on this. TRied upgrading MM and I'm getting the MMHelper.dll error on the installation and now MM won't run.

C:\Program Files (x86)\MediaMonkey\MMHelper.dll

An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory:
MoveFile failed; code 183.
Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation.

For what it's worth. I just deleted the mmhelper.dll file and the install worked perfectly.

Hope that's helpful!

I have been having MM remain in memory (in my process list). Usually 2 or 3 versions, crashed I assume. I figured reinstalling it would fix the problem, so I ended all processes of MM, and ran into the MMHelper problem when trying to do this.

I ran ProcessExplorer and found that my error was Winamp running under Explorer.

Why? Well, I believe that this MMHelper.dll is what is used to communicate, you see, I had configured Winamp to be my default player (with a external sound card). It was buggy, so, its no surprise this had remained in memory for days.

I got this bug for the first time today installing 3.1.1.1259. I had to manually go to the program files directory and remove the file myself before re-running the install. I was asked to invoke Admin privledges. MM has SO many issues with Admin/UAC functionality (i.e. not being able to install scripts or skins until you turn off UAC). I would love to see this fixed, even if the install required a reboot.

Remove <Drive>:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\MMHelper.dll!

It will get restored with the installation.

Simple and easy!

I see
This is necessary in order to properly receive Multimedia specific keys from keyboards (like Play/Pause key) when MM isn't the foreground application. The only way how to prevent this is to disable capturing such keys (which isn't a good fix for most users).
. This user would be more that happy with that workaround. Anyone know which option/config will do it?
Please?? Or perhaps Jiri's disable is source-only?

Further info:

1) Process Explorer "Find Handle" reports:

Process PID Type Handle or DLL
DMCFileSelector.exe 2344 DLL C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\MMHelper.dll

2) Successful workaround: in Task Manager terminate processes (I found two) DMCFileSelector.exe

Just as an aside, this free program called Process Explorer can easily and quickly show which program has a DLL open, and close that connection.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 96653.aspx

Even if you don't use MediaMonkey, or don't have this DLL locking issue, every Windows computer should have Process Explored installed for emergencies.

Steps:
Run ProcessExplorer
Click on "Find/Find handle or DLL (CTL-F)
Type mmhelper.dll

You'll see a list of programs that are interacting with MMHELPER.DLL. You can close those programs and it will release the DLL.

Note that all of this can be done while still sitting at the MediaMonkey install screen, where it says that it can't replace the DLL. Just hit retry.

have not had this in a long time, but I got today with 1217... when I searched for mmhelper with process explorer, it said that excel (2k) had it open, so I closed excel and was able to retry with no further problem.
