On mine it's a sub-category under Library/Tags & Playlists.
Yes, I meant that tags & playlists apply to the 'library' operations, but yes from user standpoint it should not matter if library or my computer.

To add "Or", at least for path/filenames, use semi-colon.

new filter > path/filename: doesn't contain > \staging folder1\;\staging folder2

it should work with other fields as well. Filter is basically like a global auto-playlist.

Another method that could work is to assign new tracks a specific classification or genre (like Quality: Stage 1). This way you get a dedicated node, but then you have to remember to update classification after you finish (instead of just auto-organize out of the staging folders).

Of course all of that is just changes in workflow, none of the above addresses the problem with modifying the file date.

I'll add a report shortly.

I also never lose the 'added' date either, due to being added to the library immediately. And that makes for great auto-playlist use.

On the rare occasion I don't want to see these files, I can filter them out easily enough (filter exclude path\filename).

Anyway, something to consider.
I have hundreds of artists under this "staging" directory branch, many of which are dupes of things that are already in my database. Most of them are superior recordings to what is currently in my database, and/or they're more complete, and I work on them as I find time, but I'd hate to have to add them to all of my filters, of which I use several and am already in a quandry because I can't mix AND and OR together in a filter. Of those filters currently using "OR", I don't see how I could do it.

For now I'll try to remember to add something to the database before I touch it. Lately I've been falling in love with some of the My Computer branch functionality.

Technically, the option is in the 'library' section, but I do agree it could/should apply no matter where MM touches files.

1215 Files not in database get date/time mod if change #5229

Ver 1215

I have two MP3 files in a folder. One file is in the MM database and one is not. I go to the my computer node and modify both songs' properties. Put "ASDF" in comments for instance. The song that *is* in the database does not get its date/time stamp modified, but the song that is *not* in the database does get its date/time changed to the current date/time.

I have MM set to not mod the date/times of files.

"Tools/Options/Library/Tags & Playlists/Modify timestamps when updating tags"

The above checkbox is unchecked.

Shouldn't MM respect that setting for files not in the database? If not, can we get an option to do that? I have lots of MP3 files that are in a holding area awaiting to be inspected, brought into the database and auto-organized. But I just discovered that by editing some of them I have lost the original dates of when I acquired them.
