It would be nice if these simple hooks were added before the final 3.1 release is cut.
Taking 70s to enumerate device content before even starting to sync is excessive IMO, considering this is only a 2G player.

This is particularly annoying for me as i sync twice a day to update my BBC/Bloomberg news podcasts.

This is normal (although depending on device), as confirmed by the log, MM scans the device and among other things synchronizes playcount and rating information from the device back to the PC. I understand that some users might not actually need it, some device don't even support ratings and playcounts and so for the next version, we would like to add some kind of an option to turn this scan off (which will certainly disable some features then).

Syncing my 2G Fuze (USB 2.0 MSC) takes a lot longer than what I think reasonable.

The program spends about 70 seconds sitting at "Preparing List of Tracks" before any copying starts.
What is going on that requires so much time?
Once that is done, performing the actual copy takes an time at all.
