I have made simple tool on my Fan Page that is used for that.
It's instalation is little bit for advanced users (It needs some plugins from Winamp and Winamp Installed as I can't provide them along with my app).
It will provide you Preview and Prelisten of songs like you need even it will play all that on second Sound Card (If configured) to not interupt MM output playback.

Options

Yes I did but none of the options do what we are asking.

Play Now erases the playlist

Play Next and Play Last should be called Add Next and Add Last because they just add the song but do not play even if the player is idle.

Is there any way to Play Preview the whole song without touching the playlist?

Have you checked out options > player?

non-destructive preview

I see the last post on this topic was made almost a year ago, any idea if this is being worked on?

Everytime I instinctively hit Alt-Enter to hear a song and loose the 10 minutes I spent compiling a Now-Playing list I want to uninstall MM! GRRRR

This is the only feature missing on an otherwise excellent product.

Play Now

Abecedarian,

You might want to try the 'Play Next' function. It's not perfect, but it should partially meet your needs.

btw, we _are_ listerning and are thinking of how to implement the 'preview' functionality you mention.

Player Controls - Double Click Action

I would like the option to have a track "Play Next" when double clicking, or a "Play Now" option that adds the selected track but doesn't erase the current Now Playing list. This is sort of a "preview" function. It is prevents me from accidently erasing my Now Playing list when I accidently double click.

Currently, Play Now erases the current Now Playing list and either plays just the selected track or adds subsequent tracks.
Play Last keeps the current Now Playing list, but puts it at the end of a possibly long list.
