Which is what we have been saying all along. In MediaMonkey it's a replacement in the destination so although it's added it's not an addition to the destination as it replaces the destination content.

Notepad however does manage the + sign for replacement.

Not true. Try a drag of a file to the same folder. With '+' (CTRL held), there is duplication of the source. Without '+', there is not. iN BOTH CASES, THERE IS ADDITION TO THE DESTINATION. [Edit: Sorry, didn't mean to shout - caps lock error ]

TheN if MM wants to indicate its special effect, it should not use the symbol that means something else in Explorer.

In explorer the + sign shows when you are in appropriate destination, not source. It means addition a suitable destination not duplication of the source (IMO).

Explorer has no similar situation to MediaMonkey where adding an object deletes all existing objects. And the lack of a plus wouldn't mean that files should/would be deleted in Explorer as you can't reverse the logic like that (lack of + could be because of any type of reason).

MediaMonkey doesn't add, but replaces the existing files. It could be misleading to show the + sign if the result is that original files are replaced in the destination. Your argument does stand if you take Notepad. When you drag a file onto it while another file is open it does show the + sign. So there is an example of what you mean implemented.

Anyway this is such a minor thing that the developers now have been notified of.

Not the same. I and Explorer says '+' means additional to the source object. Miz is saying it means additional to the pre-existing destination objects.

If in Explorer '+' meant as currently works in MM, then dragging a file from one Explorer folder to another without '+' would erase all existing files in the destination folder!

That's not the conventional semantics of '+'. Under the conventional semantion e.g. of Explorer, '+' means the file will be in MM addiotnally (not instead of) Explorer.

If MM is going to use the conventional symbol, it should follow the conventional semantics.

Maybe, but that's not what '+' conventionally means. It refers to the effect on the source, not the destination. e.g. Explorer doesn't show plus just because it is adding the object to a destination folder rather than replacing all the files there.

I suggest the shortcut icon is not a good indication the destination is being cleared.

Maybe it doesn't show a "+" when dragging over the Now Playing Button (or Player in general, actually), because while dragging and dropping to the playlists adds the file to the playlist, dragging and dropping to the Player clears the playlist and plays the file.

On a dragging of track from e.g. Explorer, the MM player Play button shows a cursor icon with arrow (indicating shortcut) rather than with '+' as expected, and as per MM Now Playing, Windows Media Player etc.
