No Issues here on x64 Ultimate. Only thing I can think of is that I installed K-Lite Mega codec Pack

I'm running Vista x64 Ultimate, so none of those updates apply to me, and I can't for the life of me find any way to reinstall WMP on this OS--it appears that it's all handled via Windows Update and so everything is up-to-date. Also, it's not clear that the behavior described in that article is what I described, unless the issues with the progress bar indicate a 'sync failure'--I don't know what that is. Also, the files work fine in WMP and in Winamp, so I don't see how it's a codec issue, if they're using the same codecs...

WMA files won't play[BUG# 5928]

by adamgolding » Sun Aug 30, 2009 11:34 am

I have a number of WMA files that don't play properly--this happens:

1. double click the file to play it
2. The cover art changes and there's a brief flash of actvity in the EQ and in the master volume
3. the progress indicator moves a distance to the right and the coutner goes from 0:00 to 0:01
4. the indicator then jumps back to the far left, and then back to the position in 3
5. and then it hangs there--if you manually seek to the middle of the file it works, but the file won't play from the beginning--they work fine in winamp, however
