I've done a bit of experimenting now, and can reliably get unpredictable check box results ... if you see what I mean :-)

Which tracks come up checked appears to depend on what is selected in the main window. As you say, if I make sure I've clicked the tree before clicking the 'rip' button all should be well.

So much to learn, so little time .....

The View | Now Playing pane can be either docked (showing a vertical title bar) or floating (showing a horizontal title bar).

OK, I think the easiest way for you to get All Checked is to make sure your focus is on the Tree.

The cause of your variable results was less likely change to MM behaviour and more likely change to your usage combined with as discovered above MM Rip checkbox state being sensitive to UI focus and selection.

OK - I don't understand 'floating' as a concept. Generally I have the library on display in the main window, either the 'all' view or the 'artists' view. Then after loading a CD, I'll click the button at the top of the screen to start the rip - and hope I get all the tracks checked :-)

Coo... yes.

But not if focus is in the Now Playing pane with CD tracks selected there - then Rip checkmarks any CD tracks selected in the Track List!

But this not if Now Playing is floating! Then Rip checkmarks all the tracks! :)

Goodness. Could do with attention.

I think that the boxes checked match the selected tracks from the CD you are going to rip. ie bring up the CD node, select all tracks, bring up rip dialog, all tracks will be checked.

Thanks, Chris. I've looked at the bug 5900: Ripping works fine for me, it's just the behaviour of the check boxes that is inconsistent. Sometimes the dialogue opens with all the boxes checked; frequently it opens with only track one checked.

Since it does't show here on the very fine :) 1256, I'd guess... the only subsequent ripping change:

Rip CD Dialogue checks only track one instead of all [#6023]

by Viragored » Mon Oct 05, 2009 4:08 pm

Hi - I'm re-ripping hundreds of CDs into FLAC, and find that the CD rip dialogue behaviour has changed.

I have been accustomed to the dialogue opening with all tracks checked - recently the dialogue has taken to opening with a check mark above the top of the window listing the tracks, but only track one checked. If I don't notice, the CD ejects after ripping only one track, which is not what I prefer :-)

Media Monkey version is 3.1.1.1261

Any idea what might be causing this?
Dave
