1. figure which type of disc you want to make audio or data.
2. you want to burn a disc make sure you have the proper disc from a manufacture that your cdrom / DVD burner says works with your equipment.
3. make sure your disc is not too fast of a record able disc for your burner drive. too fast might show burning but when played back there wont be anything on the disc. because it was running too fast for the burner to put anything on it. I've had that happen on a few cdrom disc's.
4. make sure no other ram hogging program is running if you have a low ram system. 1 GB and below, is a low ram Xp system.
5. start up mediamonkey.
6. go to the playlist node in mediamonkey. right click on that node make new normal playlist. called next CD to burn.
7. go to the all accessible files / songs playlist.
8. go through that list and pick the songs you want to burn. right click on the songs and click send to, on that menu click on playlist. then move the mouse to the playlist you want to send them too and left click on the name of the list. making too big of a group can make you get monkey to play them when you right click on them.
9. after sending all the songs you want, to the playlist go to that new list and look at the status bar it should be in the lower left by the start button. if not there look above the player it could be there.
10. in that status bar you will see the number of songs in the list. the time the songs will play and the size of the songs in the list according to mb's. this is important as cdroms are needing to know which is being used.
11. data cdroms are using the mb's of the songs. and that is what it says on the disc for its limit so check it. 800 mb's is in fact no more then 800 mb's so don't try and put 800.01 mb's on the disc it wont work. i suggest leaving the last 5 mb's of the 800 on the disc for the CD index and if you added folders to it they need room also. so don't over fill it with songs. again data cdroms can get up to 10 hours of music on them. how ever this is done by giving up sound quality. by using 96kbps or lower mp3's that makes a long time but sounds horrible. so you might only get up to 5 hours of good sounding songs if you use 197 kbps songs.
12. Audio cdroms are using the time limit of which that too is posted on the cdrom disc. 80 minutes is 80 minutes so don't try and put 80:00:01 seconds on it cause it wont work.
i suggest only using 78 minutes on the disc and letting the last few for the CD text and the CD index to be burned on.
13. after finding the limit on your disc you need to start cutting the songs from your burn list. after you do that you should be ready to select the songs on the list and click the burn button on the menu bar.
then just follow the instructions on it for doing the burn.
