RC is correct, there are dozens of scripts available that will "mass edit" your file tags in a variety of colorful and flavorful ways. Some are pretty heavy on the features, others are bare-bones minimalist. I'm presently trying to recall one in particular I've used before that sounds like an ideal match to the scenario you described with ridding yourself of leading digits in the 'Title' field. I will find it and post back here when I do.

Oh, let me ask you this... I understand that the track numbers appear as prefixes in your 'Title' tags (where you don't want them), but do they ALSO appear correctly in the 'Track #' tags (where you would ideally want them)?

The best script for your needs is going to depend largely on your answer to that question.

you do change the info in the song tags in mediamonkey.

first you have to turn on the option to change the tags immediatly when typing, which will possibley mess with your sound when you do that and play music. or you turn it off and sync the song tags manualy.

when you type in the data to the list view in monkey he updates his database instantly.
with that above option off you need to do the following to get the songs tags updated.

1. after typing in the information to the list view or the song properties panel.
you need to select all the songs in the list view you changed.
2. go to menu bar and then click on tools.
3. now click on the advanced tag management link.
4. now click on the sync tags' link.
after it is finished sync'ing the data to the selected songs tags you repeat for the other songs you edited, if you did a few at a time.
5. now all the songs will have the same data in the tags that you typed in to the database in monkey, so when you use auto organizer feature monkey will use that tag data to move your songs where you tell him to.

:)

yes you can change that to not show numbers in the list view title column but i don't know how i think a script? somebody else can tell you for sure on it. :)

How does it work?

I am trying to organize and clean large quantities of music with mediamonkey thats on my external hd. I can't figure out whether or not changing info in m.m. automatically changes it in the original file on my hd. I tried to autoorganize and thought the location arrangement was correct but now i cant locate the edited files where they should be. Also, I have track number before most of my track titles, is there any way to get rid of the numbers automatically. Thanks.
