Thank you for noting the bug! I also appreciate the workaround: deleting C:\Windows\CDPlayer.ini got things back in order for now.

When I first put the CD in, MM recognized the CD Text just fine. After I edited one track (just to experiment), all other tracks turned to Track 01, Track 02, etc...

Where is this data stored? I tried "Clear Library" yet my edit and missing CD Text still remains every time I put that CD back in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated before I start ripping large stacks of CDs.
You are right, it seems to be a bug, I added it as http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=6213 to be fixed in the next version.

The reason is that MM writes info about the edited track to the C:\Windows\CDPlayer.ini , but the others tracks are missing from the C:\Windows\CDPlayer.ini.
MM should rather use combination of CD-Text/CDPlayer.ini metadata.

There are to workarounds: Add the CD to the library at first and than edit the titles.
Edit or delete CDPlayer.ini to get the CD-Text info back.

Thank you.

Now, I can reproduce:
1. Insert CD with CD-Text that is not in Library
2. Play a CD track
-> Track info disappears:

Note: I couldn't repro it before because it is the same fix as for issue http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=5997 that I have already fixed.

Fixed as http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=6001
will be in 1270.

your answer to his 3 and 4 questions tells me it is as i said above.
of course there is the possibility that monkey is not remembering the cddb list code in your computer or not reading it. only on the placement of the cdrom in the computer, and since theres no cd text on the disk as it plays the songs it shows the cdtext and not the on computer cddb info.?
only finding what is causing it is the hard part. :-? :(

Good questions. Thanks for the help

1. Is this problem related to only certain CDs?
Can't confirm yet, but so far it looks like it.

2. Is this problem consistently reproducible for a given CD?
Can't confirm yet, but with just a couple of cases yet.

3. Is the problem reproducible despite the fact whether CD is added to library or not?
If added to library the issue does not occur.

4. Is this problem reproducible despite the fact whether Tool|Options|CD/DVD Devices| [x] Read CD-Text
checkbox is ticked or not?
If Read CD-Text is not ticked this issue does not show up.

5. Is this problem reproducible despite the fact whether Tool|Options|Network|[x] Query Freedb automatically
checkbox is ticked or not?
It looks like if they CD is in Freedb or that album data is obtained from Freedb, this is not an issue.

6. Does this problem appears only in 'Now Playing' pane or also in 'Track view', 'Album art with details view', 'Track Browser' panes?
Both "Track View" and "Album view", see image above. Also I can confirm in "Now Playing". Will check on Album art with details view"

Looks like something when the album info is coming from CDTEXT.

I try to reproduce this issue, but I cannot.

Could you please give me some more specific information:
1. Is this problem related to only certain CDs?
2. Is this problem consistently reproducible for a given CD?
3. Is the problem reproducible despite the fact whether CD is added to library or not?
4. Is this problem reproducible despite the fact whether Tool|Options|CD/DVD Devices| [x] Read CD-Text

5. Is this problem reproducible despite the fact whether Tool|Options|Network|[x] Query Freedb automatically
checkbox is ticked or not?

Thank you.

Me neither; I can confirm that it seems pretty random here too, and it really is annoying.

Anything we can do to help get this filed as a bug? I can reproduce, but I have no idea what I can send along to help out.

strange? wonder if it is being caused by monkey treating the list as one that is to be ripped to either the virt cd, or the harddrive, and when it sees the songs there it just changes to the default code showing it has already ripped that song.

of course there is the possibility that monkey is not remembering the cddb list code in your computer or not reading it. only on the placement of the cdrom in the computer, and since theres no cd text on the disk as it plays the songs it shows the cdtext and not the on computer cddb info.?

Here is a screen show of what is going on for me. It could be just with the post-vista OS's. Wonder if XP users see it.
