File Monitor problem

by rusty » Thu Oct 06, 2005 10:34 pm

A bit of clarification: Alpha 2 fixed the problem about tracks from the recycling bin being added by the file monitor.

In testing a post-alpha2 build, I've been able to confirm that the file monitor doesn't seem to work in some cases. We'll look into this--thx for the report.

i have that problem too. it first appeared for me in one of the alphas of 2.3. i got rid of it by deleting all config files and reinstalling. but the problem returned and now i can't find a way to solve it. i'm living without file monitor for several month now....

Well, an exclude option will be nice and i will post it under wishlist, but regardless that i strogly believe that monitoring Recycle Bin or any other system folder (like restore) is not right...
Jiri, Rusty? Any Comments?

Actually I've noticed File Monitor doesn't want to monitor my folders either. I've got it set to a folder that constantly has music appearing in it, and Media Monkey never accounts for it.

So what you want is an exclude option, similar to how backup and defrag programs can exclude file types and directories.

Yes, but nobody wants to monitor his recycle bin for mp3s.... The reason the Mp3s are in the recycle bin its because you don't want them in your library....

Correct me if I am mistaken, but technically, it isnt a bug then is it. If you by sharing the drive, are also sharing the recycle bin, then the file monitor is basically doing what you have told it to, monitor all folders and subfolder on the drive.

File Monitor Problem?

OK, since i have unistalled any previous version of MM prior to 2.5 Alpha i cannot confirm that this is only a 2.5 problem.
The thing is that if you select an entire volume for monitoring (e.g. D:\) and select the Include Subfolders option then file monitor also monitors the Recycle Bin.
So, when i delete a file from inside MM after a while it reappears but with a different file name (usually something like Dg25.mp3) which is the filename inside the Recycler folder.
I think that this is an anomalous behavior and so i post it under the bugs section.
