Hmm, it seems after all that more ppl dont like that behavior. Checks this out

I have a nice idea. Why dont you replace the OK button with an "Update" one?
This way if someone clicks on Update would expect a playback dropout.
I think this is a very easy and logical change and as i can see you have allready implemented it for the window that appears when pressing Ctr+Alt+P

this happens even when you update the now playing song with any scripts too.

it will stop the song restart the song then jump the song to the place that the song was first stopped.

i am using the previous released version the last released before your new alpha testing started.

Since I started this post i suppose i have to answer first...
Well to be honest i don't remember how 2.4 behaved on this
So, if you say that the logic hasn't changed from 2.4 to 2.5 i must agree with you.
But i am still finding this annoying.
Thanks again

Pressing 'Ok' --> break

by rusty » Thu Oct 06, 2005 7:23 pm

I'm still unclear on this issue.

As far as I know, pressing 'Ok' always updated the tag, so that doesn't account for a difference between MM 2.4 and 2.5.

Can someone clarify for me what the difference being observed is?

Thx.

Well, maybe there is an all around solution.

You could programm MM to update files tag everytime file's tag doesn't match DB contents. This way when pressing OK and all the info of DB exists in file then the update will be cancelled and so the playback wont stop...

 And ofcourse you can always create a window similar to MS Office Taskpane which will diplay the songs info constantly (similar posts exists under wishlist) which will be read only. So, you will only have to open properties window only when you want to edit something :D 8)

Ok, I see, you don't like that pressing 'Ok' continues with updating tag even if nothing was changed. Well, I think that there are reasons for it, for example you don't always see that latest state of tags in Properties dialog (the values could have been guessed from filename and stored in DB only).

Anyway, I'm interested whether also other users find this too annoying...

Hmm, you are right, i wasn't clear enough.
That happens only if i open the properties window for the current playing song.
Playback stops every time even if i don't edit anything.
I will send you a debug log. I gave a look at it and is clear that MM proceeds to update the file's tag every time i open the track properties window even if i dont change anything....

Thnks

I can't reproduce this, what exactly do you do (i.e. press Esc, ...)? Also debug log would possibly help to understand what happens.

Rusty, Jiri ? any comments on this? Is it normal or system-related?

psyxonova,

i can confirm that behaviour...happens everytime even if i dont update/change anything.

OTOH, its a lot faster for me too...beautiful!!

Track Properties window problem

When i open the track properties window to have a look at the comment or lyrics and the close it, playback stops for a while, something which is normal in the case that i have edited the track properties. But this happens everytime, even if i don't edit anything in the track properties.
Can anyone confirm that??

On the other hand, updating track tag when file is playing is much faster now.
With MM 2.4.x i had to wait at least 2-3 seconds before playback starts again and player seeks to where the playback had stopped. Now this happens in less that a second no matter how many tags are updated at the same time!!!
Good job
