Re: Double track# tag in m4a files (trkn+TRACKNUMBER) BUG#64

Any update on this? I just encountered this "bug" when I checked some m4a files. MediaMonkey 4 has been released at the end of 2011 and this "bug" is still not fixed (the bugtracker also shows that there hasn't been any work on this in the last four years). In the meantime saving the files in MP3Tag removes the duplicate entry, so this isn't a serious problem for me.

It also seems that MM sets the default value of CD number to "0" if it isn't set by the user (this doesn't happen with MP3 files). Is this field required by the MP4 standard or is this also a bug?

Not a problem.

Unfortunately there isn't any workaround for now, but I've marked the bug down so it can be fixed (probably for MM 4.0).

If you use mp3tag and view extended info it only shows two identical fields (doesn't indicate the frames).
So I just opened the file with an hex editor, and checked for all the frame names...

P.S. sorry for the double post...

Are you sure about this? MM help says only trkn is written:

Edit: Just checked my own m4a file with mp3tag and I can confirm that the track number is written twice. How did you know it was also written to "TRACKNUMBER"?

Double track# tag in m4a files (trkn+TRACKNUMBER) BUG#6423

by mzo » Sun Jul 18, 2010 12:09 pm

It seems that - when tagging m4a files - MM inserts both the "trkn" tag (as it should, from standard mp4) and the "TRACKNUMBER" tag (which belongs to ogg/flac). If I check the tags with mp3tag, it shows a double tag (3\\3), which seems to cause my Android (HTC Desire) mediaplayer to ignore both fields.
Is there a way to modify this behaviour (MM .ini file) and insert only one of these two tags?
Thanks in advance!
