Great news Peke! It is always a good thing when bugs are discovered and fixed. I'm sure the performance changes the developers make will help. Maybe clicks should only display/process 1 image at a time, and ignore the rest, maybe change the UI to only show one at a time with forward/back buttons. That way memory will not have to be used for all images at once in a list.

Received, tested and your album art folder is 55MB in 7 Compressed JPGs I always use smaller ones to embed and Keep Original Scanned Pics in separate files.

Anyway I'm able to replicate this thx.

Try www.megaupload.com and send me download links in PM.

You know, instead of the log can I zip up and send your developers the album where the songs open slowly and for that matter close slowly too?

Then you will have actual test data to reproduce the issue and maybe find some deficiency that needs to be addressed in MM.

I just dont have time to figure out how to do a log unless it's just some option I can click in the program, I'm not a power user at MM internals or scripts.

Since the offending album is FLAC files it will be big, can I upload it somewhere instead of email? I think my email provider has a 5MB limit on attachments considering just one song is 10-20MB email wont work. This one particular album is the worst, but I do notice that songs with litte or no art in the tags Play faster and respond to the Stop button immediately. Whereas this album's songs Play slow and the Stop button takes about 10 seconds befor song actually stops playing. I say it is because of the art handling in the code that is sucking the CPU power away from the real purpose of MM and that is to play music.

Let me know about how to upload a test file for you.

I may have exposed something that when fixed in the next release, will improve the performance of the code.

Thanks
Rick

your machine sounds fast enough it should not have trouble loading the songs.
but if you have huge dpi art saved in the tags. and you have tons of art in the tag for the one song, you might be pushing the size limit of the file format to its max.

as for leaving the song file with the art in the tags. you might on windows 7 get away with starting monkey.
going to the task manager of windows.
going to the process tab on the task manager and finding the decoder.exe that is showing while you are playing a song.
and right clicking on that decoder and then going to the set priority menu then set that to high priority.

i believe wins 7 will auto keep that setting you did, each time that decoder is run. i know in xp you have to use a different program to set it. and that program will not allow you to set the decoders speed up from normal. but win 7 might do it.
this will allow the song to be opened faster if you can get that done. don't use real time on that because it will take over the computer and lock user input. win 7 won't put anything in real time (as far as i know).

keeping the art or getting it out of the file might take an script check with trixmoto's scripts he has them listed in the forum room " help with addons " in the " All Scripts " thread he might have one for art already coded?

OK I'm on a fresh reboot, trying to edit the album art of an album, and getting the message that is the title of this thread.

The album had about 10 scans, MM option is set to save art in the tag (if possible), I was trying to remove some of the scans when I got the error.

Additionally it took 3 minutes to load the art properties dialog tab. The machine has 8GB of memory and quad core 64 bit.

I'm going to turn off the option to save art in tags, it seems to be buggy. I will let you know if that fixes it.

Is there a way to get the album art OUT of my media files and into separate images in the containing folder? Would I have to open the dialog and just save the Art tab again to have it revere the MM option that says put art in tags? Songs with art stored in tags are clearly loading much slower on my machine, I need the songs to load instantaneously, even if that means not seeing the art at all. This was the problem all along when clicking through songs and they dont play right away and the Now Playing pane cant keep up with the clicks.
