You are right, they probably aren't needed anymore (they are from MM 3.x), we'll look into it. That said, I don't think that they would cause any really significant delay. Let's see, feel free to mail me a log or description of your issues then.

My debug log for a device sync containing no podcasts has approx. 3000 lines:

[676] 4064 DB open SQL: SELECT NULL FROM PodcastEpisodes WHERE PodcastEpisodes.idTrack=?

Are these operations really intended? I wonder if they are part cause of a mysteriously long delay I see on the status bar.
