But not only field names don not get imported. On my PC, win7-x64 nothing got imported:

The mediamonkey.ini does not get imported during the install of mm4. The installer creates a new .ini file without any settings from the old .ini file (from mm3). So i have to copy my important settings manually from the old into the new .ini file, e.g.: db path, custom fields names, [PortCopyTracksMasks]

But no problem, i could manage that successfully....thanks!

Not a big deal to rename two custom fields, but I ran into this also. The .ini file is in the default location. I have been a MM user for a while (earliest version was something like 2.1), but the custom fields are relatively new for me - certainly within the last two years, with MM3.

the ini file was in the default lacation of mm3....C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\MediaMonkey

But because i managed that the other way this issue may from now on be only interesting for other user to be careful about that :-?

Unless you moved your .ini file from the default spot, I don't see why. It worked when I upgraded.

It does, but not for portable install. I guess you were doing a portable installation.

Shall i Install mm4 and afterwards overwrite the new mediamonkey.ini by the old one from mm3 in "roaming"?
Or first copy the whole folder "MediaMonkey" from "local" to "roaming" and afterwards update with MM4?

But then i thought maybe there are some important settings for mm4 in the "mediamonkey.ini" so that this file should be created new by the installation of mm4 and it would not get updated if existed already in the "roaming". Or is it irrelevant?
The .ini is already automatically imported, it shouldn't require any extra steps...

This is for MM4: C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey

I'm fairly certain the ProgramData folder is from MM3, that's where certain extension config files were saved.

thanks! "mediamonkey.ini" of my mm 3.2.5 is, as i mentioned above in the directory:
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\MediaMonkey

But MM4 instals it into ...
C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey

I noticed as well that after install of MM4 there is a directory...
C:\ProgramData\mediamonkey
Why this second one?

What shall i do to update and retain the settings? Install mm4 and afterwards overwrite the new mediamonkey.ini by the old one from mm3?
And which directory are the settings normally stored in?...

C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey
or
C:\ProgramData\mediamonkey

This could occur if you installed MM portable or if you're upgrading from very old version of MediaMonkey that stored config settings to the Program Files directory.

i did not notice something at the beginnig: CUSTOM FIELDS do not seem to retain their names if renamed in ver 3 so you have to do it maually again in the new ver 4.
But why is that?
