I have just recently downloaded the new MM4 and have successfully uploaded my entire music library and synced a subset of my files to my iphone. I carry out the sync by making playlists (this is my preferred way of doing things) then adding those playlists to the auto-sync list. During playback on my iphone, however, I am noticing some strange things that I wasn't before on the previous version. The sync seems to be affecting things 'under the hood' of the iphone OS, database, or whatever. Here's the symptoms:
1. Sometimes the artists do not get organized alphabetically. I can not really discern the pattern of organization, but it may be in the order of my playlist possibly? Also, the alphebetical slider bar, which usually is located to the left (used for easier scrolling through the library) becomes missing when the previous problem occurs.
2. If I partially play a song and then skip to another, when I return to that song later it plays back at the exact same time I left the song previously.
3. Although I have my podcast sync to newest 3/newest 5, I often times get only 1 or 2 entries in each category or sometimes none at all. Also, I notice that there are always some files ready to be added to the iphone even after syncing. It's possible that they are not syncing properly or it may be that the files reside on the iphone but are not appearing properly.
These are all the problems I am having so far. I have found a correction for the first one by simply going into Itunes. When I've had problems with MM3 before, I would do the same and the database would always get fixed (normally the problem would be the 'updating library' screen on the iphone or even the 'no files' after a sync).
I am using a jailbroken iphone 4 running iOS 4.3.3 (the newest iOS). I also experienced these same issues while using a non jailbroken iphone 3G with iOS 4.something (probably 4.2, not the latest). My computer is running Windows 7. I have the latest build (as of June 23).
If there is any remedy, your guidance would be much appreciated. If not, hopefully these issues can be resolved.
