This should be fixed, is it for you?

Make sure the grid is empty or select the now playing node. I find that if I have lets say 125,000 tracks in view in the grid, and I start a mass update for lets say 1000 selections from same grid, it will run for a long, long, long time. But if I simply clear out the grid or select now playing after I start the update, then it takes off like a rocket and runs in seconds. The problem is the video system has to continually re-update the grid for every single record that is changed, so this means re-painting a grid of 125,000 rows 1000 times. And I dont have a fancy schmansy video card that works that fast. I'm still using MM3 but noticed this issue a while ago when doing library re-scan with the grid full.

I had a chance to try this today and when I moved to an area that emptied the browser, the process sped up really quickly, thanks for the tip.

Thanks for that pointer, I will try that the next time. I know it wasn't empty because all the tracks which I was editing were in the grid.

Let me know if you want me to compare the times with updating turned on.

EDIT

With update turned on and 2000 files

MM3 - 11 minutes to complete
MM4 - 6 minutes to complete

I am curious why it takes longer with updating turned off than it does with updating turned on, isn't it doing more with updating turned on??

Updated quality tag on 4270 files, turned updating of files off:

MM3 - less than a minute to complete
MM4 - 12 minutes to complete

Let me know if you want me to compare the times with updating turned on.

Compare with MM3 please. I tested on My PC and MM4 actually was faster than MM3.

When updating tags for a mass amount of tags, batches over 100 up to 12,000 tagging is very, very slow. These same processes in MM3 takes seconds to a few minutes, whereas in MM4 it seems to take up to and over an hour or two. Not only that, but MM4 becomes unresponsive while these processes are processing, once again something that MM3 does not do.

EDIT: I turned off the option to update tags while editing, this sped the process up significantly.
