I have suspected it and now I have replicated it:

Installed MM version 40 over 39.
Confirmed to start MM from Installation window (last one) (maybe this one is a culprit?) .
MM opens with a new tab (web), my old (music) tab is the second one there. I closed web-tab.
Art view (as 80% of the time) was already selected and is still showing. I start the album by double click on a cover. (probably not necessary step to replicate).
Open a folder in Windows explorer with a .jpg. Drag and drop is not working. Music drag and drop is not working as well.
MM restart - drag and drop works.

no just some times. I can't replicate it either.
No pop-up error (i use debug version) though. So I do not know how to send it to you (and when, immediately after when it happens? close MM or not? what is the path to log file?).

Re. the failure of the 'drop' icon to appear, perhaps a debug log would help--I can't replicate this. Does it occur consistently?

As I recall there were no option to drop it (sign with a plus) and it was shown as a crossed zero/circle.
It happened to me once again.

Unrelated to image:
It has just happened to me with a music files which I wanted to drag and drop for a playback. it showed a crossed zero/circle.
(And I didn't do any operations with image drag and drop, so there shouldn't have been any pop up in the background.)
Only restart has helped.

I think I know what may have happened: the pop up dialog appeared _in_back_ of the MM window, so the operation just appeared to fail.

By the way this confirmation pop-up is really anoying. In MM3 it was without any pop ups.
Option to remove it?

I had this problem when Norton automatically removed winamp.exe from my MM4 folder (see http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=60132 and http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=59925). Weird that it should have had this effect and don't know if Symantec have fixed this but it's an idea for you.

This is working correctly for me (tested by d&d into Art&Details window, into Properties>Artwork tab, and into Art View). Can you reverify and/or provided additional information?

e.g. does it fail for all audio file formats? Is it failing for specific images only? a particular view/window?

This was one of the most valuable features for me.
I took either a .jpg or a picture from Firefox browser, dragged it and dropped on the album and the album art was updated for all trucks in the album.
Now there is no drug and drop?
