I don't know how serious the support staff takes to these posts, but I think my experiences best fall in this thread.
I've a collection of music that began with a Jazz library years ago. It is now over 1TB and over 140,000 files large. Thankfully my hard copies are safe in storage and do not have to move with me any longer whenever I move. What a back ache of flight cases that became. Go Bless MP3's.
MM2 and MM3 were always perfect to me for my needs. Good work on those ones, guys. Seriously. This is what I've recommended to every serious collector I know.
I did a fresh install today and tried MM4 for the first time. It was awful. I had to uninstall it, delete all the Application Data, clean out my registry, and start over again with a copy of MM3.
1) several files that scanned into the library perfectly fine in previous versions suddenly failed to scan into the library in MM4. The error logs claimed the files were too short, or had file sizes that were too small. Manually double checking found, for example, files 7MB in size, 5 minutes in length, and played fine as always in VLC - and played and scanned fine in MM3 once I was back to it.
2) the media tree didn't list correctly. I only ever use "Artist & Album Artist" and in MM3, each listed Artist has a + beside it that you can click on to see a list of albums appear. This only appeared on less than 5% of the artists in MM4. Things were fine once I went back to MM3.
I didn't stick with MM4 long enough to find other glaring issues - these were enough to completely ruin daily function and use for me making the current state of MM4 a non-option in my house-hold, nor can I recommend it to any serious about audio archives as it is.
