The problem is, when I browse the beatles' albums, those two albums are grouped together as one album with 28 tracks, instead of 2 with 14 tracks each, although they are physically located in two different locations.
Tracked at http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=10321.

Good move IMO, but since that Mantis filing does not address the reported problem:

the marking of this report's Subject with that Mantis filing issue number is inappropriate. I have removed the marking.

This is a long standing problem with MediaMoney. When reported four years ago, Rusty responded:

My rationale for aggregating tracks is that it's very common for people to have one track from AlbumX in one folder, another track from that album in My Downloads, and another track from that same album in /Music from John etc.
I'm disappointed this aggregation behaviour has not been made optional.

yep i found it pointless too, i only use it as in hope they will get it some place later and all my songs will have the data in it and i won't have to go through the whole library retyping it again. 8)

oh i thought there was a so called Must use way for the group tag.
thanks.
i agree they need to add more tags to keep records straigt for the 300 people that use mm as a playlist creator and tagger to use those in other players.
but i was just thinking and trying to find the way mm already might have that we could use this feature with out having to add more tags and make mm more like wmp.

:)

Grouping is a vague tag so people use it lots of different ways. Mostly I think people use it for a "Super genre" tag but I have seen people use it other ways in the forum.

There are official "Compilation" tags and I think it would be better for MM to add support for those, since it's used by lots of other applications and has become a de-facto standard.

Because most people don't use that tag that way.

Hi all,

I got the same issue in version 4.0.7.1511.

I got 2 albums with the same name (Momentum) BUT from different artists (Joshua Redman and Neal Morse) and MediaMonkey mixed all the tracks in every album.

My device is an iPod Classic 160 GB under Windows 7 x64.

Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

That is described in bug 2.

Lowlander wrote:Have you tried sorting on the Summary column? In your example where you've added comment it might work.

PS. the Summary column seems to not sort (http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8945), Summary (Art View) does.
In my case, when I sort by Summary it does not work, although the summary of those similar albums is dissimilar (I added the comment thing).
All the tracks are grouped, and the Summary reads:

Code: Select all

The Beatles
[1963] Please Please Me {The Beatles in Mono}
Strangely, when I sort by path, Those two albums are grouped separately and have the correct, distinct Summarys:

Code: Select all

The Beatles
[1963] Please Please Me {The Beatles in Mono}
and

Code: Select all

The Beatles
[1963] Please Please Me {The Beatles Stereo Box Set}

I've filed a bug for 2 issues when sorting in Art with Details: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=8946

Bug 1 may prevent the following from working. Sort on Album then hold Ctrl key down and Sort on Comment, then release Ctrl key.
