Hi Lowlander, thanks for the workaround - I know but I forget.
Odd that you find it only occurs this way with Artist. I don't find that it works correctly for any of the nodes. My example was from the Album Artist node and my previous example was for the A&AA node. I've just tried and I get the same result with the Album node.

May I suggest that you rename the Artist in the Tree as it doesn't seem to remove it there. Also it only seems to affect the Artist node, Album Artist and Artist & Album Artist seem unaffected.

Alternatively, select a node with many entries and edit one of the entries to create a value that doesn't already exist, the new node doesn't appear and the entry remains listed under the old node. Hope that helps
Yeah I get this bug too. I makes me so cross.
Such a pain when you are editing artists, albums, whatever.
As tummycrock says, the amended entry disappears from the media tree.
The only way to to view it again is collapse and re-expand the node, which means that you have lost the view layout you've setup for editing those records. It is esp cumbersome when editing large collections.
I seem to spend my life collapsing and re-expanding :-?

Here's an example:-
Select an album artist in the media tree with only one song in the database:

Edit the album artist in-place:

The entry disappears from the media tree (therefore so does the song):

and only reappears when you collapse and re-expand the node.

This happens for other node types as well.
Alternatively, select a node with many entries and edit one of the entries to create a value that doesns't already exist, the new node doesn't appear and the entry remains listed under the old node.

Hope that helps

Please detail. What node is selected when doing this edit? Are all files for Artist/Album Artist value being edited selected (and being changed)? Did you check if the new value is in the Media Tree?

Thanks, sorry, I've only just noticed this was marked fixed but I don't think it's completely right.
If I edit an existing artist's name within a column in details their node disappears under Artist/Album Artist in the media tree.

Edit properties - disappears from media tree [#8651]

If I edit the album artist of an album from music>album>album using the edit properties dialogue, the album disappears from the media tree and doesn't reappear until I do something like go to album artist then back to album. If edit the album artist by typing directly into the field in the file list, the track disappears (depending on how I exit the edit: enter or click on track), the node remains but the new node doesn't appear.
