That's what's I meant! Well done on figuring it out for yourself!

figured it out.. it was the "album artist" which needed to be uniformly labeled in the entire album in order for search, (and the media tree for that matter)

i did double check my tags were synchronized.

but no i didn't check to see if it is set as an "album"

is it in the properties of the file? or how do i set it up as an album?

... and have you double checked your tags etc for the Dr Dre album to make sure it's properly set up as an album? If it's got different contributors then I'm thinking there's a possibility some of the tracks have become mislabelled or misfiled or something..?

I had a go at this search in my own library, seems to have worked as expected.

Is that the only criteria you have set?

I'm trying to use the advanced search feature to reveal those random loose tracks which are not a part of any real album..

i select in the advanced search criteria: # tracks in Album<= '4'

so i do this but for some reason it still reveals albums like 2001 by dr. dre and friends..it doesn't reveal all the tracks but 10 out of the 14 or whatever. I don't understand why it would show albums like 2001 which have multiple and different artists from track to track...
