I just wanted to bump this thread, I am experiencing what I believe to be the same issue.
Clicking on a Flac file in the library allows the track to play for about 8-12 seconds and then MM skips to the next track on the list. Irritating!
1. The issue seems intermittent and does not affect all Flac format files, it is affecting about 1000 files out of my 3000 song Flac library (a rough guess).
2. I had no issues with playback of any of these same Flac files on previous versions of Media Monkey. (I recently reinstalled MM 4.0.7.1511) ( I had some flac on a local HDD and some on the NAS server)
3. Another coinciding issue is that I cannot jump forward in the timeline for these troubled flac files. (Song length data is also now missing on many tracks until played).
4. Are there any improvements for native MM support of Flac files, is there a update coming out shortly? Is there an improved output/input driver I need to install?
5. My Flac files are on a DNS 323 Dlink Media Server NAS 1 TB HDD.

yes since I first posted I had no seek from the network drive. So it is really when accessed via DNLA.

The DNLA works properly (Synology DSM 4.0). I have no problem when I access the same files in DNLA via my Cambridge Audio NP30, or Bubble UpnP on Tablet or via other software

I think it is really an issue with the MM client / DNLA / FLAC

I will follow your procedure for capture

thanks

So the problem is that MediaMonkey as DLNA client fails to play the files? In that case the problem may lie with the DLNA server. However feel free to capture the failure to play in a debug log (step 4b) and send it to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=69

I have the same trouble, all my FLAC files are skipped after a random time .
I was running 4.06, and upgrade to 4.07 when I was the changelog and read this topics. I hope I could 4.07 could solve this issue but now way

For me, it is just impossible to use MM as I can't listen a file up to the end

FLAC are stored on a Synology NAS and accessed as DNLA server. It seems I don't have the issue when I access the same FLAC files via a network drive, but in that case I can't get the DNLA features (sorted by artist, genre, album ....)

Make sure you're not using the waveOut Output Plug-in as it has limitations (it's old).

I have been having the same problems with SACD conversions.

I have one set of CD FLACs that won't convert using Foobar @24 or @16.

Now understand, WinAmp can play the raw SACD FLACS with no problem @24.

So, it is sounding more and more like a dll that handles input in MediaMonkey.

What d'all think?

I dunno if this helps, but this FLAC is 24 bits per sample - how good is MediaMonkey at playing codecs at 24 bits per sample?

When I decreased this to 16 bits using dbPowerAmp - all is good.

But it plays the other 24 bits FLACs ok.

Jim.

p.s. I tried the other output plugins and they all behave simlarly, one of 'em crashed.

Hi, I'm using the MediaMonkey DirectSound output plugin, no DSP.

Wil try some other plugins when I get a chance, Jim.

Based on the log it seems to be output plug-in related. Which one do you use and can you reproduce it using another one?

Thanks,
Jiri

Weird - I just downloaded the debug version and it played fine. So I reinstalled the normal version and there's the problem again.

I'm a software engineer myself - and I hate these particular type of problems - they are usually not a good sign.

anyways, thanks for the replies, best of luck finding a solution.

Jim.

p.s. if you need anything else off me attempting to track this down, just let me know.

4.0.7.1506 freezes up on me when attempting to play the track.

I can play this file with MM 4.0.7 without problems. Could you test it on different computer or install clean MM4.0.7. portable to different folder and try again? And in case you reproduce it, please generate debug log, thanks.

Hi Lowlander,

Sorry about this - but I thought of that too late I'm afraid - i overwrote the originals without thinking.

I'll have a root around and see if i can find any of the originals cached anywhere.

Jim.

You should still share one of the originals with support so they can analyze if anything in MediaMonkey can be improved to handle these files even if they have some form of corruption in them.
