okay, i could never get the debug log to work, i'm sorry. but i have just noticed something else.

i select an album in the main window and try to export as m3u, it does nothing, but if i send the album to now playing and export m3u from there it works. so anyone needing this functionality that has the problem just send the tracks to now playing and you can create the playlists from there. at least on my system anyway.

umm? taking a long time to open the library list? are you rescanning it like lowlander thinks?? or are you saying it takes that long when you are just trying to open mm and you did not clear the now playing playlist?

long time to scan the database might be caused by too huge of database. are you using normal playlists? or do you use auto playlists? try to make as many of your normal playlists as you can in to auto playlists they are easier on database size.

but the bigger the db, the less space for virt mem, on your system. less mem means slower scan times. its all basic knowledge i know but i was just wanting to get it clear on what your system is really like. 8)

Debug version can be installed over existing version and then uses the existing Library. No need to rescan files.

i know you said that earlier, because i read it after you said it. i installed the debug, and it took to long to even load my library, i waited for an hour and still wasnt finished, so maybe someone else with the same problem could give it a try please?

Like I said earlier

@ rovingcowboy , im not sure, the only thing i have ever done in there is deleted some old paths used for converting etc. im unsure if this would be a problem.

i suspect there is something in the ini file that might be messing with it but then again will the ini file mess with export? i know there is someting wrong with the ini file as it is causing one issue i have. but would it also cause yours?? :-?

Lowlander - updated to 4.07.1505 and just like seed_or_die it has made no difference - I still cannot create a playlist after selecting individual tracks in the main window.

Lowlander, I am using version 4.0.6.1501 (portable) on Win 7 (64 bit) - where can I get 4.07.1505?

it does not work. it works if the whole album is selected in the media tree, but if he wanted to select individual tracks from the main window, say five tracks from an album, which cannot be done from the media tree it does not work.

is exactally the same for me.

b is what I was trying and works as expected on 4.0.7.1505 for me.

You can try right clicking on the selected files and use Send To > M3U/XSPF Playlist

and did you select the files on the Playlist?

I'm struggling to understand the difference between the 2 quotes above.

PS. you don't need to create a Playlist in MediaMonkey of selected files to be able to export the playlist. The export should works on any selection of files.
Lowlander, sorry if I did not explin myself properly.

1. Yes I did select the files in the playlist

2. I know you do not need to create a playlist to export a playlist -I was just following Rovingcowboys suggested method

What happens with your set up if you;
a) Select an album listed under the Album Media Tree node (ie. left click on the album name) and then File > Export to Playlist (Ctrl - E)
b) Select all the individual tracks/files for this album (right side of screen) and then File > Export to Playlist (Ctrl - E)

In my case
a) works - I get Save As dialog box and the playlist for the entire alum is created.
b) does not work - I do not get Save As dialog box and there are no hidden windows
