I am also stuck on this issue:

* MMA cannot see MMW for Sync

* MMA sees MMW DLNA server fine via UPNP button in MMA, can even stream music from server; however, when I try to select Sync server, it sits "searching" forever.

1. Firewall is turned off on laptop. Anti-virus is turned off.

2. Verified both MMA and MMW are on same wireless network.

3. Server set to share automatically with all devices, and accept external IP's.

4. Windows 7 PC (MMW) has all networks set to discoverable.

Why would UPNP access work fine on MMA, but not Sync?
Cheers.
P.S. MMA version is 1.0.1.0100

I have MMW set to be a server and allowed to accept external ips and the other option, the device is allowed to connect to MMW and I'm just lost as to what I am doing wrong here at this point...

Now I'm really confused - I was going to go through everything once more and post all of the settings etc in every area... but it worked.

I didn't change anything but this time it saw the server almost immediately. And I have successfully synced in both directions.

Thanks everyone.

I got it to work. Thanks for the support. I really appreciate it.

I don't know if it was the fact that I have an ActionTec and switched from Enabled to Disabled. Or if it was the fact that I changed my Firewall setting settings. Whichever of the two it was, it worked.

Cheers!

Any UPnP/DLNA capable App on your device should be able to see the Media Server enabled in MediaMonkey for Windows. Is this the case or isn't it seen either?

For testing purposes you may want to enable both the options Share automatically with all new devices and Accept external IP addresses on the Devices tab of the Media Servers configuration on MediaMonkey for Windows.

Finally had chance to do some testing on this.

I've used UPNP Inspector on the same PC to check out the MMW instance...

I can see the MMW server and some of it's properties:

But when I browse to the server I can't see any content - it looks like the content is restricted:

Does this help anyone diagnose the problem?

Thanks for all your help on this everyone.

I'm also running MMA on a Galaxy S3.

Thanks
Chris

Some router settings can mess with the detection also.

If you have an Actiontec router (the ones with the modem built in for Verizon FIOS), see this post I made:

I am having exactly the same issue using MMA on a Samsung S3. MMA doesn't see MMW. I have gone through the thread and the characteristics of the issue posted are pretty much the same.

I open MMA.
Go to Options
Click on Select sync server under the Wi-fi Sync heading.
I get no devices found.

I have been looking for a solution to sync playback and ratings to my Android phone for quite some time. Thanks for your hard work on this, we do appreciate it.

Chris - I don't know about Win8, but in Win7 they are in "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings". For each network zone you can specify "Turn on Network Discovery". Do that and then try to find the server again in MMA.

If your 'droid can't find your windows server, make sure your windows machine is discoverable in your wifi advanced settings.

Perhaps this is another example of http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=10164 .
We'll find out once this is fixed.

Sorry for the delay - manic day at work.

I don't see any devices on that tab.

I can't see the MMW server from any DLNA client (either wifi or wired)

MediaMonkey is using port 49276. I don't think there is any issue with running multiple DLNA servers as long as they use different ports. You can configure the server and make sure that your devices are enabled under the Devices tab (if listed).

Windows firewall has two rules set for MediaMonkey - one for UDP, all ports. The other for TCP all ports.

Nothing specifically for the port mentioned in MMW, though.

Here's what's set in MMW...

I can't see this server from other devices at all, but the Windows Media Player server on this PC is shown. Can I have more than one running on a PC? (I know my NAS has 2)
