Makes sense, I guess.

I don't use MM on this particular computer much (and I don't use MM as a media manager/library, so to speak), but I did just recently rip two cds using MM. And those two are the only ones in the "library", despite not actually existing in the location they were ripped to anymore.

So what I did was make all of those songs one genre, then nine of the others the other nine genres I wanted. Oddly enough, MM let me do it, even though the files don't exist anymore. Now in the folder I'm editing, my drop down only has the 10 choices I wanted. Strange workaround, but pretty slick nonetheless.

The Genre list only includes those used in files in your Library (the ones you've scanned in).

Alright...
I think I figured it out.
Going up in the tree a bit, there's a genre folder. Under it, MM seems to be only 'reading' in some way one folder on my computer to determine genre, not the folder I'm currently sorting through.

Now I just need to trick MM by finding that folder and copying 10 songs with my selected genres to that folder.
Fingers crossed.

You'd think so...

It's just not doing that for me.

This particular folder is related to 32GB sd card in my phone. In one folder there are over 3000 songs. Obviously, there's easily 20-30 different genres of song in there.
What I'm doing is making each song one of about 10 genres (Atmospheric, Chill, Classical, Dark, Dramatic, Easy, Hard Rock, Pop, Quiet, Rock) to make a rudimentary sort of playlisting I can use from Player Pro on my phone (as well as actual playlists eventually).

So, it would be nice if it actually did show all the current genres in that library, but it simply isn't doing that - like I said, only Indie and Noise - and those aren't ones I'm using, though for sure Indie is the genre on a number of those tunes I haven't fixed yet, and I'm sure Noise may be on a couple of those as well).
If I could have just the 10 I want, that would be fantastic,

But there's a drop down each time you click on genre to edit for a song. In mine right now, it only has Indie, Noise, and then whatever the genre of the song I'm editing is. So now I either have to manually type in the genre or copy paste it from a text file I have open.

It would be far easier to just select from 8-10 genres in the drop down.
The drop down shows any and all genres for tracks in your library.

That's exactly what I'm doing right now. File by file.

You can change/add genre's on files. The script is to removed unused ones, something you could do with SQL as well (I presume that would be no different than what the script does).

Is there a way to edit the drop-down genre list manually?
In a config file or somewhere?

Rather than simply running a script to remove unused genres?

Is there a way to edit the drop-down list of genres? I want to remove a few of the similar genres so that I don't accidentally select them.
