The lock screen issue should be fixed in the next build. See:

I don't think that the MMA lock screen should be displayed at all if the program is "not running" (no icon visible in the status bar), regardless of whether another app is trying to put something on the lock screen.

Prolem with <4.2 is that only one lockscreen player can be active and you see those effects.

That is Why I use GO Locker that support MMA 4x4 widget

I have been seeing some instances of the lock-screen Player showing when the MM icon is not visible on the Android home screen (no explicit stop, just normal timeout/swapout). I've also seen it when last.fm is playing music, which is a little annoying: it hides last.fm's screen-lock whatever-that-is (widget?).

Idle Timer should be configurable in latest versions on MMA.

Problem with your approachwould be when Phone rings MMA pauses, backs to home screen, you end call MMA is closed :(

That is another reason I requested that a 'stop/quit' option be put on the menu. Or better on the play controls. Plenty of room on the screen of a phone.

BamaJon, if you've been using Tasker for a while, this likely isn't the first time you've found an app that doesn't respond well to the Kill command. I know I've personally run into that a good bit. I just did a quick test and found that if I left "Use Root" unselected, Kill did nothing. If Use Root is selected, Kill took MMA out of focus but did not stop all of the processes (note that my phone is rooted).

My suggestion to you is to take the Kill out of your Exit Task and just use a Go Home instead. MMA should continue to run for approx 60 seconds after the Go Home is issued, and then it should shut itself down cleanly. At least, that's what I'm seeing in MMA 148.

roving cowboy there is no system tray on an android phone , hence the reason I posted in the mm for android forum .
I have used an app called Tasker to automate running the app when headphones are plugged in and when removed should close the app but it will not , it works fine with play music app (closes completely ) but Media money will not even go off screen when hitting home button it goes to notification bar and you have to physically go under running apps and click stop twice then go to cache section and stop it there to .
Have you tried without *tasker*.

the tray is the notification tray, same as system tray. just play mma and press button to go to home screen while mma is playing, you will see mma icon in tray drag tray down to see it you will see player controls which also has the square for the stop button press it and mma closes.

they chose to place it there for easy access, because mma is to close when you close it or press home screen after you press pause on mma.

Phone?
Android Version?
More information. So my guess is that they will need more information.

On my G3 (32gig external card with 28gig music) works quite well and stops when you stop it. Memory usage is about 16-18 meg total.
