You won't belive it - I can't - but ... I've updated my Internet Security Suite and my MMA Pro to the newest version and tried to sync - yes it works! :D
Thanks all for your patience with me.
So there are a lot of wishes I have for the MMA Version, like Gapless play etc. etc. etc. but theres another story.

Port is not set in MMA, but in MMW under Tools > Options > Media Sharing for each server. Once a port is assigned it should remain the same. Maybe you left yours blank?

Firewalls can create rules 2 ways in most cases. You can either allow a program (at which point ports become irrelevant) or allow a port. As you see in your screenshot your Firewall takes care of it as you can set it to always allow.

The ones that have been done right (and configured correctly by user) will ask permissions when a program attempts access to network.
I've done this a serveral times and MMA always takes another port number. Please have a look at http://cmdk.zonerama.com/Photo/293269/11373243 and the following. sgs3.fritz.box is my smartphone. I don't understand, why the port number changes every time I try to connect. May I have to change the port number to a static one in MMA?

If you can see on the picture from the last post, the Firewall accepts all requests from mediamonkey MMW and MMA automatically. But no connection anyway :(

Could it be a problem with Ipv4/Ipv6? My AVM Fritzbox Router shares both.

Only one thing can't understand - MediaMonkey on PC running with administration rights - why code developers did't include automatic firewall tuning or not made special button in MediaSharing Configuration???
Because Firewalls take care of this. The ones that have been done right (and configured correctly by user) will ask permissions when a program attempts access to network.

Ok - after all I've made a radical test! On my Win8 64 bit Desktop, where no connection can establish, I uninstall my Firewall/Antivirus Software (G Data Internetsecurity 2014). And now it works like a charm. I've tried it bevor with disable the firewall etc. but this doesn't work. I also tried the manually mode in the firewall to allow the specified ports for sync with MMA (Port 5000). But this doesn't work. There is no way for a specified port in MMA. MMA takes a different port everytime it tries to connect to the MMW Server. So I don't know if this is a bug or a feature  but this makes it impossible to route it through an firewall manually.

Here is a screenshot of the firewall protocol:
http://cmdk.zonerama.com/Photo/293269/11373241

And I'm agree to ajsn:
Only one thing can't understand - MediaMonkey on PC running with administration rights - why code developers did't include automatic firewall tuning or not made special button in MediaSharing Configuration???

Guys,

For these reports can you:
a) confirm if a connection initially worked and then failed on subsequent attempts. If yes, does disconnecting from WiFi/Reconnecting solve the problem?
b) confirm that in MMW:
- Grant remote sync/access rights is enabled for the device sync profile in question
- MediaSharing is enabled for remote devices that are connecting to the Media Server (Tools > Options > Media Sharing > Click Media Server)
c) indicate what port number you're using, and whether there is a firewall rule that block it?
d) indicate whether changing to port 5000 (in MMA and MMW) as described in Peke's earlier post solves the problem
e) indicate whether access fails for Wi-Fi Sync or Wi-Fi Sync and UPnP (on attempts subsequent to the initial attempt)
f) assuming everything is configured properly, please send us an MMA log:
- after you click the UPnP button, and the MMW UPnP server appears (or doesn't appear)
- after you click the Options > Select Sync server button, and MMA fails to connect

Thanks for all your help in getting to the bottom of this.

-Rusty

If I start MMW and hit the sync Button on MMA at the same time, the sync works as it should. But when a hit the sync Button twice a couple of minutes later, there is the "Connection failed" Error. I don't understand this. I'am on the port 4000.

Hi, guys.

Was the a.m. problem. Solution is very simple:
(after tuning of all options on PC - MediaMonkey / Tools / Options / MediaSharing / <name of your library server>)
- go to Windows Control Panel / Firewall
- go to Advanced Settings
- go to Inbound Rules
- look for the BLOCKED processes at 'Action' column (I has 2 MediaMonkey's blocked)
- double click on each blocked process and on General tab choose Action "Allow the connection".
That's all.

I am also having this issue. Galaxy s3, MMW .1669, MMA .0179

It's been the same for all builds: a fresh install of MMA (after deleting all music and database files) will usually sync perfectly. After the first sync though, MMA is barely able to recognize the server. Often it takes dozens of attempts to select sync server (<searching> goes on seemingly forever) and sync location/settings usually results in "connection failed!" Tapping UPnP is likewise hit-or-miss, often failing to find the server.

However, once a connection is established it syncs normally. It usually takes around 5 minutes to connect.

On a side note- playlists with an asterisk or slash in the name (changed to a dash after a sync) always ask to be deleted.

Interestingly when I booted the PC and the S3 again today I was finally able to see the MMW server in MMA. I just completed syncing all my podcasts and playlists. Many thanks to everyone for your help and particularly to Peke for the tip which worked in the end. I don't understand what we effectively did by changing the port number but I guess that I don't need to. The important thing is that there are folks like you out there who know what they are doing :)

Peke wrote:OK, Lets try another Approach.
1. Open MMW
2. Tools -> options -> library -> Media Sharing
3. Configure Running Server
4. Enable Both Options
5. On Server Tab Select Your Local IP and Change Port to 5000 and OK to confirm
6. Than OK to confirm MMW Settongs

On You S3:
1. Download and install https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... droid.fing
2. Scan your Wireless
3. Open IP of PC with MMW Server
4. Select Scan Services and see if 5000 sows in results
5. Now Open MMA -> UPnP
6. If MMA see the server (else skip all steps) Go Back to MM Home Screen
7. Use Menu -> Options -> Select Sync Server
8. MMW should be listed there
9. Test Sync Now

Report back with results.
I followed your instructions. The Scan Services showed 5000 in the results and MMA now sees the MM Server in UPnP which is a breakthrough. However, it still does not find the server under -> Options -> Select Sync Server (...<searching>).

You need to check UPnP in MMA (not MMW) and see if the MMW Media Server shows.

Did you try Lowlander's idea? He's basically suggesting to verify in MMW that the MMA client is configured with rights to access the UPnP server.

Click Options > Media Sharing > MediaMonkey Library, and then make sure that the relevant clients are enabled.

Let us know if this helps.

Thanks.

Rusty,

I am not sure that I understand your question. In the MediaMonkey library I see only 2 devices listed with the name "pvConnect" and "pvConnect Media Manager". They have IP addresses and MACS which do not show up on my router as having accessed the network. I don't see the MMA client and I don't see any possibility to add it manually.
