Anyone experience this issue should be informed that we fixed it in 1693 release.

nohitter151 linked script worked for me as well.
Thank you.

OK, thanks nohitter151.

I failed to pay attention to your post in this thread, but now having gone to the link you gave I followed through: downloaded the script, installed and ran it.

It easily took care of the empty genres (even listed them).

They are now gone.

Thanks and best regards,
Richard

Thanks for you reply Lowlander.

I'm not sure, but I think I did run a complete optimization before I made my original post.

Even so, I have now run it again and it doesn't resolve the problem.

I am experiencing the same problem after the upgrade to 4.1. Empty Genres persist and cannot be deleted, even after running a complete optimization.

I, too, would like to know how to delete the empty entries in the genres list.

I suggest running File > Maintain Library with complete optimization enabled. It may fix the problem.

New strange genres after upgrade 4.1 [#11872]

by Richard Leonard » Wed Feb 12, 2014 8:39 am

I have just upgraded my MM Gold from v 4.0.7.1511 to v 4.1.0.1692 (PC running under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit).

In my media tree under the Genre folder I see that 8 genres appear which are unknown to me and were not present before the upgrade. All of them are empty (no tracks listed), so I am assuming it not to be the case that somehow there might have been strange entries lurking in the metadata of some of my tracks which would have induced v 4.1 to create these strange new genres on that basis.

Has any one experienced this issue?

I have tried right-clicking on the unwanted genres and clicking on remove, but this does not delete them from the Genre Folder, and I have not been able to find a way to delete them?

Does any one know how to delete such unwanted empty genres from the Genre Folder?

Thanks for any help.

Richard
