Thanks again Lowlander. You've been a great help to a novice. I'm starting to feel a bit more comfortable with the product now and have tidied up the Library as you suggested. Now for the NAS.
One of the delightful features of iTunes that I'm not going to miss was its propensity for producing duplicates. If anyone knows an easy way......!

Note that you can remove the Media Server entries of the files in the Location node of the affected Collection (like Music > Location). This will remove all the files from the Library.

Thank you Lowlander. I kind of got there just before your reply came in. It's not exactly intuitive is it? I now have a list which effectively has the same address twice. Once under Media Servers and once on its own.
But the scan which is running does seem to be populating the path and filename fields 'correctly' now.
I'm going to have a very complicated database to sort out when it's finished though - lots of duplicates and so on.
I'll tidy it up, create a test playlist, copy it into the scanned folders and upload to Sonos. If that works I can then finish deleting the itunes playlists etc. and clean up the NAS files.
I think I'm on the right road at last - many thanks for your help again.

You can navigate to the File Share using Windows Explorer under Network (depending on Windows version it likely is shown as Computer (don't select Media Device)). Once you reach the folder that should be scanned copy the full Path (Path should look something like \\Buffalo\folder (it won't be exactly like that!!!)) and paste it in File > Add/Rescan Files in MediaMonkey, click Add and then start scan (OK).

Gentlemen, thank you very much for taking an interest in my problem.
I have tried deleting a few tracks from the Library and then adding them back using the Add/Rescan option. In the dialogue box I ticked the artist folder. When the scan ran it located and added the correct tracks but the path and filename were still in the format that Sonos doesn't recognise.

Is there another way to set the UNC path? My NAS drive still appears as a media server - do I need to change this? If so, how?

It has to do with how you scanned the files into the MM library. You need to add the files using a mapped drive letter or (better) the UNC path of the server. See http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=49

It means you scanned files from the Media Server (DLNA/UPnP) instead of the File Server. DLNA allows for no editing whatsoever.

You need to scan files from the File Server using the UNC Path (like \\NAS\folder (preferred)) or the Mapped Drive Path (like M:\).

I have started to use MM instead of iTunes to manage my music collection which is stored on a Buffalo NAS drive. On the initial scan MM applied path and file names in the form:
Path: http://192.168.0.5:9050/disk/music/O1$1 ... 120180.m4a

The filename displays as the O1 etc.

My Sonos kit does not recognise this format and won't play therefore. So I have tried to use Auto Organise, Edit Properties to change the path to something that Sonos will recognise. Each time I get an error message indicating that the file has an Unknown protocol and it won't convert the filename.

Interestingly, tracks I ripped onto the NAS using MM display the 'correct' filenames, appear in a MM playlist called Accessible tracks and are recognised by Sonos. It's all the music originally uploaded via iTunes that are causing the problem.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? (I am very much a novice with MM).
