That's interesting...not sure how it just suddenly moved over to the web view from being in the library.
To get it back, have you tried clicking back on a library collection or node?

For Disabling,
File > Manage Collections > uncheck "web"

Since the problem started, have you restarted MM with something other than web selected?
If not, it will come back to where it was the last time it was closed.

In other words, I was in my library and took a break. When I come back, I find the web page open and NO WAY TO CLOSE IT! I finally got the web tab closed, but now, how do I get back to my library listing? I have tried all of the menu pull-downs and icons that I can see, and I cannot get there from here!

OK, I am EXTREMELY irritated... As others have stated, I am I lifetime gold member and I DID NOT do any recent upgrades. Now, when I launch mediamonkey, it comes up in the web tab, which was NOT THERE before, and I cannot FIND A WAY TO CLOSE IT. Is there a manual (not the blankity blank wiki/forum) for media monkey?

Oh, ok, "everybody" not every time.

Didn't see your last post before I posted above, Lowlander.
But mine can serve as an expansion of issue and a call for anyone out there experiencing
anything different..

Before I check that new update, here's what I've been thinking:

It "can" show up every time you update. But only if every time you update you are downloading
the free version, launching it and inputting your license. Because in this scenario, initially, it is
the free version.

You remedy this by doing the above scenario. Now, "only" the first time during those few moments where it
is still free before you input your gold license should it show up. Then, because you back up your database and
insert it into an update "BEFORE" launching it, it does not show up again unless something happens to your DB
and you have to start the process over again with the "initial" free version.

As far as the free version only, I'm not sure it's been too long. But is this happening
even when you backup your database and insert it BEFORE launch of a free update?

Either way though, my conclusion is that it "is" only happening with the free version.

Anyone experiencing anything different? Please let us know.

It does show for everybody on first install and update.

That's a fair point dtsig. I'm about to do another update either today or tomorrow.
I will look to see if it comes up again. Then post back as to the nature of this showing up in
a paid version.

To follow on this I have to ask WHY as a gold (have already paid) should I ever see this. It adds nothing to my experience. I understand the need for revenue but if one has paid for it does MMW really need to continue asking for money? If haven't gotten enough from buyers maybe rethink the price.

Really? I've never noticed that it happens everytime I update "up front or next to anything". Maybe.
I'll have to pay closer attention next time. I think I've only ever seen it come up initially a couple of times in the past.

Every update will open the Web tab, next to your existing tabs. Close it and that's it. On a fresh install navigate to the node you want to see.

I've had people advise me on things "in the spirit of" all you gotta do before, and it has
"almost always" been helpful (that doesn't mean that it's always helpful  ).

Almost everything commercial has some sort of way of generating revenue (goes back long before Apple)
and some are certainly more annoying than others. But you really shouldn't be having an issue with the
web ad page unless you've done a fresh install.

After that you click on something else. If you then do a new install later, you use your backed up database file
which should eliminate that problem.

....unless it's coded in the free version to come up at the beginning
of a fresh install, regardless of an inserted backed up DB. ...?
I don't know, It's been so many years since the free days.

I mean, seriously, I get that there will be the occasional person that will do an install, the web page will come
up and they will just stop and stare and not try anything (and I for one, as others here, will be happy to help). But is this really
happening too often? How many other posts in this forum are there, other than this thread that has - one or two?, with that complaint?
I'm talking about "actual" complaints, not just "what do you do" or how do you fix it" > solution is given > then, "ok, thanks" type stuff.

"all you gotta do" is not helpful - ever. Everyone here gets that this is a revenue driver, and MM likes the integrated browser hot, but as a long standing MM user I can confirm this is the most annoying aspect of MediaMonkey. It's some form of default page, that has a mind of its own. If you beat the monkey enough it goes away, and in many schools that sorry result is better thank appletune.

You don't need to close it. Just click on anything like you would normally do to view your library, playlists, etc. It seems very intuitive.

People who upgrade will see the close button as they'll have multiple tabs.
