I have same problem with the MMA (1.1.2.0415) Library not being 'seen' correctly. I had just performed a sync via USB from MMW (4.1.7.1741) Server. All seemed to be fine, and I did see the content (both Music and Playlists) listed for a brief time after I completed the sync so I thought all was well. Then later I came back and found that the Library categories were not showing any content anymore even though the library paths had not changed - /storage/external_SD/Android/data/com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkey/files/Music and /Playlists .
I had performed a RESTART of my LG G3 running Android 5.0.1 to ensure that all system processes were running which may be needed to scan and display the library. No joy.

I also have another Music Player on the device which I have configured to point at the same locations and it sees the Music and Playlist content fine, so if different music players are reliant on Android supplied services or processes to scan the library then this seems to point more at MMA then Android itself.

I did press the 'Check for New/Changed Media' button in Options, and I got a little pop up message indicating that 'Scanning started...', but I didn't ever see the circular progress icon near the top do anything, so I went and sent the logs after that. The LOG ID was M8UHYWFEJU . Thank You

It is possible that MediaScanner doesn't scan it at all. But we didn't observe this behaviour for SD cards. Do you see the content in e.g. Google Play Music App?

Could you please try to press "Check for new music" again and send us logs right after the progress ring disappears? (About Dialog -> Send logs, please post log id here)

I have solved that by :
1. putting music to CDcard\Music
2. update the MMA library
3. Activating WiFi
4. MMA moves then the library content to
SD-Karte\Android\data\com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkeybeta\files\Music
5. Now this is in the library
6.WiFi sync works

Yes, currently MMA use MediaScanner as source for metadata. It always take some time till MediaScanner scans everything. There is no option how to affect this from our side. As soon as mediascanner scans new metadata to Android's media DB, MMA refreshes. MMA checks the changes periodically.

Btw. we are working on our scanner. But it will take some time.

I've seen the same behavior. I press the "Check for new/changed media" option and nothing happens to tell me it has started immediately. Like you, at "some point" after that I see the scanning circle. I have no idea if pressing the button actually triggered something or the program sensed a change on its own.

OK - It's started scanning in the last few seconds. Dunno why. I kicked off the system scanner 5-10 minutes ago. I'm sure it's taken effect immediately when I've done it before so I dunno why the scanner would take so long to start doing its stuff...

Anyway, issue is sorted.... Advice? Don't check for changed tracks immediately. Leave it 5 minutes/hours/days/weeks/months etc...

I've got the latest version of MMA.

I recently had to swap my SD card and I decided to fill it by doing a MMW -> MMA sync. (And used the old sync setup.)

I copied over a lot of music. Now the music doesn't show in MMA (well it does going via the folder structure, but not when going by Genre/Artist/Album etc.

I have:
Confirmed that the folders containing the MP3s are included in the library scan.
Used the "Check for new music" button loads of times.

What gives?

One thought: I've got a rooted phone and have disabled the system media scanner. I have run it once manually, but that didn't do anything. Does MMA use the system media scanner, or does it use its own?
