ok - it's back up

by manmoth » Tue Mar 27, 2007 9:20 pm

Sorry about that, but the script should be available again at

http://www.in2words.org/projects/MagicMonkey

I've been very busy the last several months, what with getting engaged, moving across the country, finding a new job, a hard drive failure, building a new server, etc.

It should be back. And I do respond to IM's at

ex.tel.co.guy@hot.mail.com (remove all but the last period)

on MS Messenger

or via email at

timatin2wordsdotorg (if you can't figure this one out, then...)

Peace...

I posted the last installer I had downloaded, not sure what version it is, or whether or not it was the latest before manmoths link went down.

Does anyone have an up-to-date download of this script? If so, could they please email it to me?

by whicken » Sat Oct 07, 2006 9:49 am

If hosting is an issue, I'd be happy to host this on the "User Contributions" page from MusicIP - this is sort of off to the side at the moment, but hopefully we'll be putting it more integrated into the main site in the future.

BTW: the api does support more/less like this, it's just not documented very well - if someone wants to work on this, let me know and I can provide info.

Hi again manmoth,

Don't want to keep bugging you, but I've not been able to access your MonkeyMagic project on your site. Any chance you could post the code here, or send it in a PM?

Many thanks,

Jon

MonkeyMagic script availability

by manmoth » Thu Sep 14, 2006 10:22 pm

Try again later this weekend. I'll try and get to fixing it. I have obviously been having trouble keeping my web and mail servers running and configured properly throughout the process of moving and changing hardware. Sorry about that.

MonkeyMagic... is it still available?

by NZJon » Thu Sep 14, 2006 7:17 pm

Hey, manmoth,

Is your MonkeyMagic script still available? It doesn't seem as though the page on your website is accessible (http://in2words.org/projects/MonkeyMagic/). I'd love to have a play with MonkeyMagic...

Cheers,

Jon

More / Less like this functionality

by manmoth » Tue Apr 11, 2006 7:48 am

I've been wanting to look into this, though my hesitation is I don't really want to get into a lot of GUI work, which I expect this would require a fair amount. I'll take a look, but don't expect things to move too fast - I'm a bit swamped at work recently.

More/less like this?

by 0rca » Tue Apr 11, 2006 4:29 am

Hi all,

would it be technically possible, to integrate the "More like this" / "less like this" functionality into the script? I.e. when right clicking on a song in the playlist generated by MonkeyMagic, could you recreate that playlist with new parameters?
I´m no programmer, so I have no idea if it makes sense what I am talking about :-)

Cheers,

0rca

manomth, I was able to get the script to clear the current playlist prior to adding its own new playlist with the following line (borrowed from another script I found):
SDB.Player.PlaylistClear

I have the whole thing working pretty well now and targeted with the program girder, which automates some commands from my remote control. The only quirk is that when a blind right click+"get MMM playlist from song" is executed, it defaults to the top song in the display window of the player, which is not usually the currently playing song...

Is there an easy way to add a hotkey to execute the portion of the script which is otherwise started by a right click+"get MMM playlist from song" action? And if so, would this target the currently playing song?

Thanks!

Don't worry about my connection thing--perhaps it's something odd about my zonealarm setup. I'll have to play with it a bit. 8)

I was playing with this script some more, and a couple suggestions IMHO would be to have it clear the player's original list after obtaining a new playlist, and to hotkey the script's startup... then it could be a quick playlist mod that is somewhat automated.

Anyway, thanks for the followup.

nsurg wrote:The drop occurs regardless of anything that is done with scripts or mediamonkey or anything else (for me). I can hit the start button on MusicIP for connecting, and if I do nothing more than watch the preferences window for about 20 seconds the "stop" button eventually grays out (no longer available), at which time the connection seems to have dropped. It does not resume until I hit cancel, close the window, reopen the preferences window, then start it all over again for another brief moment.
It does this every single time I use musicIP, no exceptions. The program I'm using comes from http://www.musicip.com/listener/product ... -downloads

As far as automation and script revision wishes go, then, my personal desire for further options is to force the musicIP program to open, connect, generate a playlist, and close again... I'll bet that would be tough to do from within a script... but I have a setup and needs that may be different from other users. Your ideas sound great.

Thanks for this cool script.
nsurg, I don't mean to seem as though I'm ignoring you or your problem. It sounds as though something is amiss with your MusicIP. If you could fix that (uninstall/reinstall, firewall/security software setting, etc. ?), then the script should work. Unfortunately, it would be next to impossible for me to troubleshoot your MusicIP installation.

Maybe if anyone else were experiencing the same sort of thing, there might be more information to go on?

Anyhow, you're very welcome for the script. Please still feel free to make any/all other suggested enhancements, and good luck with fixing your MusicIP so things will work for you again.
