Problem:
Pressing the Right/Left arrow keys produces horizontal scrolling across the file-list pane - i.e. instead of playing the next or previous track – even though I assigned the arrow keys as custom hotkeys for playback of the next/previous file.
Tried to assign new hotkeys:
In tools > options > hotkeys, Right/Left arrow is the default assignment for Playback: Skip 5 Seconds Forward/Backward.
So I freed-up the arrow keys by changing the skip-5-seconds hotkey to another key sequence.
Then I assigned Right arrow as the new hotkey for Playback: Next file. And I then made the same change for Left arrow and Playback: Previous file.
Result of custom hotkey assignment:
The new hotkeys do not skip to the next/previous track in the playlist. Instead the Right/Left arrow keys scroll horizontally across the file listing pane (this while listening to a podcast playlist, with focus in the main file-list pane - i.e. focus is not in media tree pane).
So… what am I doing wrong? How can I use Right/Left arrow as a hotkey for playback of next/previous file?
Thanks for the help.

p.s. I tried some additional arrow-key sequences for the Next file/Previous file action and got the same horizontal scrolling behavior. For example these custom hotkeys also produce scrolling instead of playing the next/previous file: ctrl-Right/Left; shift-Right/Left; and ctrl-shift-Right/Left.
However, when I assign a hotkey with ctrl or shift and a letter key, the hotkey works fine.
