So even if you sync using Media Go then the playlist isn't visible by the player, previously you indicated that Media Go works to transfer the playlist successfully ?
No its not visible by player itself. I never said that playlit transfered by MediaGo is visible by player, I said its only visible by PC in H>Walkman>Playlists.

I did some stupid thing and it worked :D . In H>Walkman>Playlists folder, I created folders named playlist.pla and playlist2.pla, and put songs in there. And now player itself sees playlist. When I selected Playlists in player, it didnt give me error :) . It opened Playlists, both playlists in player was displayed as "unknown" , but when I selected playlist, all songs I puted was there and player played that songs :) . So player sees folder named playlist.pla as playlist, but not completely, because playlist name isnt displayed, its just called "unknown" in player.

Main reason I wanted playlist in my walkman, was that I needed song search by scrolling letters on top of the players screen (like on iPod there's letters on the right), walkman have this letter scrolling in "All Songs", "Artists", "Albums" , and I thought that if I get Playlists work, this function will be in playlists too, but now I see that there's no such a thing when navigating in Playlist. Its such a must have thing to me, and Im very disapointed that Sony didnt added this very simple function in Playlists, that you could jump to song when listening a playlists, such a shame. Now to jump to a song you need to select "All Songs" and just then you get "letters search", but I have a lot of songs and I want to stay in particular playlist and have posibility to use letters to scroll through the songs.
Was it really very hard for Sony to insert same code as in "All Songs" in Playlists when they was writing software....

In the first step the playlist is not visible by the player??

4) Copied the same playlist.pla (that was created by Media Go in step 1 and downloaded to PC in step 2) using Windows Explorer to the same location as in step 1
=> player doesn't see the playlist (even after reset)

Is it exaclty like this?
In first step, playlist is not visible by player , it gives error (no playlists available). Its only visible in Computer>H:Walkman>Playlists>playlist.pla.
Yes I did all these steps, did reset. But still player gives error:"no playlist available. please connect to compliant software or device and transfer playlists"

I also saw here: http://mediago.sony.com/enu/support/fre ... -questions
" Alternatively, restarting the phone will also cause the playlist to appear."

Could you try to restart the phone after the playlist transfer to see whether it does the trick?
According to the Media Go's FAQ it looks that it transfers playlist also in MSC mode so it should be about plain file copying.
Playlists never was visible by device, it was visible via PC in H>Walkman. And in H>Walkman it was visible in step1.
My device is Sony NWZ-x1050, its a mp3 player, not a phone. There's reset button on a player, I tried it too, but still player doesnt see playlists.

Ludek wrote:Hi, thanks for the update.

So renaming the M3U in Windows Explorer to PLA doesn't do the trick?
It would really mean that Media Go uses some kind of own protocol to sync it.

To confirm, could you please do the following test:
1) Copy music+playlist using Media Go
2) Download the music and playlist from the device to PC (using Windows Explorer)
3) Delete the music+playlist on the device
4) Copy the music+playlist (previously synced by Media Go) to the same location on the device, but using Windows Explorer
=> this way we can confirm that plain file copy isn't enough to sync the playlist?
Hello,

1. I changed playlist.m3u to playlist.pla, format changed, because icon of playlist changed too. But walkman does not see playlist.

2. I did test, tell me if did something wrong, I will do it again :) . Im gonna try to write what I did as detailed as possible.
1. Synced playlist to walkman. (songs transfers from pc to walkman automatically when syncing playlist, but if I had to transfer music and playlist separately, just say, I will do this test again)
Songs appeared in Walkman>Music folder, and songs appeared in separate folders (H>Walkman>Music>Artist>AlbumName>songname.mp3
e.g. H>Walkman>Music>Byrds>There is a season>song.mp3, H>Walkman>Music>Kiss>Crazy Nights>song.mp3 .
2. Dragged Albums from Music folder, and playlist.pla from walkman to New Folder on PC.
3. Deleted folders from Music folder and playlist.pla from Playlist folder.
4. Then I put everything back in Walkman.

In Walkman, Search>Folders , these music folders appear, but Search>Playlists it gives me the same error (No playlists available)

The "Media Go" app sync PLA playlists, but the content of PLA playlist is actually M3U content.
So the solution should be to sync the M3U with PLA extension (like Media Go does).

Tracked as: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=13228

Just please confirm that Media Go synced the NEWPLAYLIST.pla to /Playlists/ directory? Or it is another directory.

And also please do this test: rename the synced M3U file using MediaMonkey ( H:\Playlists\adddaa.m3u )
to H:\Playlists\adddaa.pla
Does it the trick to show the playlist on the device then? Or it can be even M3U but in another directory?

Thanks!
Hi,
Yes, MediaGo and MediaMonkey synced playlist file goes to Playlists folder in walkman.
I renamed synced M3U playlist via windows explorer, later I try to rename it using media monkey :) . Renaming it with windows explorer, didnt help.

Im afraid that it can be some kind of miscommunication between walkman and PC(windows). I deleted/reinstalled drivers hundred times, and it didnt help. Maybe reinstalling windows might help :/ .

Edit. I cant rename synced playlist via MediaMonkey, (In MediaMonkey i select H>Folders>PLaylists and click right mouse button on playlist, there's no option to rename it. I just can rename playlist in MediaMonkey library, i renamed playlist to playlist.pla, synced it to walkman, but it still is m3u format : playlist.pla.m3u

1) I wonder how Windows Media Player could sync the PLA. Can you re-verify that WMP can sync the PLA (if the device is connected as drive H:\) and attach the sample PLA?

2) Could you please generate one more log, but start the DbgView before MM start? When the device is connected (or MediaMonkey started while the device is connected) then it reports its capabilities (this is not seen in the previous log).

Thanks.

Im really very sorry, I couldnt make it today. I will provide log tomorrow.
A little bit information. In MediaMonkey I see Walkman (as device) and Walkman H:\ . I will uploud screenshot tomorrow.
Abut WMP. Im sorry if I said WMP. I meant Media Go, it's Sony program. When I sync playlist with Mediago, it appears in walkmans playlists folder, but walkman itself, gives error that there's no playlist available. And Im not 100% sure now, but I think that those playlists dissapear from walkmans folder after a while. In WMP when I sync playlist, it only trasnfers songs to walkmans Music folder, playlist isnt created at all, no file appears in Walkman>Playlists folder.
Again, really sorry that I couldnt make it today :( .

And,
Thanks to You !
