Yes, which Build (Help > About) is it failing to remove?

I did that. If by "delete" you mean "remove".
But what do you mean by "delete"?
I removed the "Library" server in Options. And then, after closing MMW and then re-opening, when I go to Options the "Library" server is not only not removed, it is still there and is enabled and running!
If I do not remove the "Library" server and un-check it so that its status is "stopped", then after closing and re-opening it remains un-checked and stopped. Which is fine by me.

I have to admit, all this networking business is very confusing and seems to be guess-work by the best of our efforts.

Then delete the Library Server.

I tried each, and for what it's worth, when I stopped "MediaMonkey Server" (and left "Library" running), my remote/client instance of MMW got "Access denied" on the server. Leaving "Server" on and "Library" off is what works for me to be able to stream.

I find that the Play count data still does not get updated on the server side (when installed as a server), despite having "Update play count when playing remotely" checked off in Options.

It doesn't matter. Either will work.

Which one do I keep and which is "the other"? Server? Library?

You only need to keep one of those Servers in Media Sharing. The other can be deleted. It's a leftover from MediaMonkey 4.0 to 4.1 update.

Hi,
For now MM5 install do not remove MM4 install and they coexist so yes, you should disable Sevice for both MM4 and MM5 before you install latest MM5 andn then just enable Service for MM5.

This is back (two servers) with the updating to the latest vers.

There are two servers listed and enabled under Media Sharing: "MediaMonkey Library" and "MediaMonkey Server". Both are seen under the Windows/Network as well.

So... there are supposed to be two then, after all?

What is the difference?

And, should we "Unistall service..." under Media Sharing before updating and then re-install service from the new version after? Just curious.

Yes, it seems to have been #3, with both "MediaMonkeyEngine.exe /SERVICE" running for the MM5 install and "MediaMonkeyService.exe" running from the previous (and still extant) MM4 install.
I stopped that second service and the second server disappeared and all works as expected.

It means that either you have:
1) Multiple Servers in the same MediaMonkey install
2) Run multiple instances of MediaMonkey (maybe Service and MM are running simultaneously (they shouldn't)
3) Run multiple versions of MediaMonkey (MediaMonkey 4 and 5)
4) Have multiple PCs with MediaMonkey running servers

However there is no concern for all but 2. Multiple instances on the same database will generally work, but is not recommended.

...Two copies show up in Windows under Network Locations as well. Just sayin'.
I'm not experiencing any problem from it, but should it be this way??

Nope. Just "MediaMonkey Library" running under servers in MMW

Yet two "MediaMonkey Library" entries under UPnP servers in MMA

I uninstalled the service in MMW, cleared cache and data in MMA, stopped and restarted both applications, re-installed as a service in MMW, re-initiated MMA and it still sees two servers with the same name and IP address.

It's not a problem, I guess. Just a curiosity....

Check under Tools > Options > Media Sharing in MMW if you have 2 servers (this is common for those who started out with MediaMonkey 4.0

two copies of MediaMonkey Library under UPnP servers

by sordup » Fri Nov 05, 2021 4:37 pm

Is this normal?
I have the MM UPnP server installed as a service. In MMA on my phone under UPnP Servers two copies show up, both with the same IP address.
This is true whether MMW is open on my PC or not (with the service still running)

Why two copies?
