Note that MM 2.5.4 (currently in beta) fixes a problem in which tagging occasionaly fails due to a file lock. This is probably responsible for the occasional failed tagging operation.

Thanks for the many hints, lowlander, i'll check these.

I use MM with a external 3,5" 300GB harddrive via USB 2.0.
And I always take care that I work slow enough for not having too much tracks in "xxx files to tag..." in the status line.
The database is set to the external drive too, so i can use it with my PC and my notebook in the same way.
Just take care that the drive letter is always "R:" and then use the same MediaMonkey.ini at both Systems. It works fine, and the "bug" is not specific to one system.

Its strange, because alway if I see some mistakes, made by MediaMonkey (not bad, I am happy with the software) it is fixed if i use the same function just again. (tag two times or autoorganize two times).

But whats up, if I dont see one of the errors? My system will crash down, my organization will be destroyed...

I'll report if my settings maybe cause the errors.

Make sure that the MP3's are not read-only. Make sure that tag changes are directly written to the tracks (can be set in the options).

Check out the Files to Edit > Unsynchronized Tags node and make sure you Tools > Advanced Tag Management > Synchronize Tags on all of those tracks.

I've auto-organized 20 AC/DC albums without any problems. If you keep having problems you might want to send a problem track if you can reproduce the problem with a certain track.

What is your setup like, do you use files on the local system or over the network?

More and more I get the feeling that something is worng with the autoorganize and autotagg functions...

I use 2.5.3.968 with lifetime licence - but I realised the problem even in older versions.

When I use auto taggin via amazon, sometimes some tagg-fields are not filled in! Most of the time it hits "release" or "albumartist".

I search and find the album, I take care, everything is correct, then I check all the checkboxes (even the one above the list for "all") and click "autotag".

Now I see, how all the fields are filled in or updated.

But sometimes the "release-year-field" stays empty! Even sometimes the "albumartist-field"....

Another strange behavior is, that some of my MP3s in the archive have very strange values in the tagg-fields. For example, the "artist-field" has in some very few cases the name of the folder, where the MP3s are in (for example "self-ripped" or "my collection").

I know these reported bugs are not very easy reproduceable, but it happes in fact!

I tagged nearly the whole AC/DC Discografie right now.
Artist and Album-Artist was set to "AC/DC".
In fact, Autoorganize uses wildcards <Album Artist> to create my subfolder strukture.

Of Course "AC/DC" cant be a folder name. MM takes care and changes this into "AC-DC".

In the end, i anticipated a Folder "AC-DC" with all the subfolders for the albums. But i had 2 folders! "AC-DC" and "AC DC" - the second one had 2 subfolders for 2 albums and one file in each of it! Exactly these files were missing in the other, bigger, AC-DC Folder.

I could correct it as i easiely did the autoorganize a second time with the misdirected files. This time, all went fine.

Why did 2 files go wrong the first time?
This happened 2 or 3 time before, but now I am sure!
