I was able to get MusicMagicServer running as a server in headless mode without the script you were using. I just followed the instructions from [url]http://spicefly.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=35&Itemid=32[/url]. I'm running Windows 7 x64. This is with the latest (unsupported) version from [url]http://www.amplifindmusicservices.com/[/url]. I didn't have to do anything special except change the mmm.ini to point to the library file at C:\Users\Mark\AppData\Roaming\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer\default.m3lib. I also changed the permissions to C:\Program Files (x86)\Audio\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer to be read/writable by all as you suggested, but I'm not sure if it's necessary.

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer\
MusicMagicServer.exe start

Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") 
WshShell.Run chr(34) & "C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer\MusicIP-Server.bat" & Chr(34), 0

Hello, since MusicIP is no longer available as a stand alone server, I figured some people here may be interested in getting the MusicIP service / Music Magic Server to run automatically on every reboot without starting the MusicIP application.

First put the following into a file named [i]MusicIPServerBAT.bat[/i]

MusicMagicServer.exe start[/code]

Now you have a bat file which starts the Music Magic Server. Problem is, it starts a dumb MSDOS window which blights your desktop.

To solve that, create a second file in the directory where you installed MusicIP called [i]MakeInvisible.VBS[/i]

WshShell.Run chr(34) & "C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer\MusicIP-Server.bat" & Chr(34), 0
Set WshShell = Nothing[/code]

Now create a shortcut from that and drag it (the shortcut) into your start menu -> all programs -> startup. Or Google on how to add programs to windows startup.

Notes:
1. There is no way to see the status of MusicMagicServer, other than looking at memory and CPU usage in task manager.
2. You still need to start up MusicIP when you add new music to your library.
3. You need to go into MusicIP and enable the API checkbox, don't forget that.
4. In Vista and Windows 7 you will need to change the permissions of the MusicIP program directory to writable and editable by all users, then you might want to copy the database from [quote]C:\Users\YOURUSERNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer[/quote] into the MusicIP directory so you don't need to re-analyze your music for the server separately. [b]If you don't do this, you will need to go to http://localhost:10002/ and set up the MusicIP server with the location of your music library. [/b]

I don't know, I don't have any. I guess it should work if the MusicIP mixer supports wma files.

Sorry for not visiting this site recently. I think the script is working ok, but it comes with no support or warranty.

Fortunately Apple has released iTunes 8 which includes a similar feature to this script - [url=http://www.apple.com/itunes/whatsnew/]'Genius (tm)'[/url]. Here's my [url=http://www.planetgriff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=719]take on it[/url]. This has the advantage of probably working straight out of the box without any configuration or fiddling required.

Right. Running it as administrator (after manipulating the registry to stop those annoying dialogue boxes) seems to make it work. Though this is a puzzlement.

I can't make this thing work for all the cotton candy in Cumbria. The output log being enabled and no output log being created suggests to me that it's not even working a little bit, yet I have the configuration settings (which have affected the content of the MM.ini) and the clickable icon in the toolbar. I am using MM v3.0.3.1183 and MusicIP Mixer v1.9b6. I have activated the API server and the port matches... I just don't understand why it's not working. Any help to get me on track would be greatly appreciated.

I just ran the Music Magic DJ. When I open MM it gives me this error:

Error#429 Microsoft VBScript runtime error
ActiveX component can't create object: 'SongsDB.SDBApplication'
File: "C:\Program Files\Media Monkey\Scripts\Auto\MusicMagicDJ Config.vbs", Line 3, Column: 0

Another Error :

Error happened during script execution:
ActiveX component can't create object: 'SongsDB.SDBApplication'

I just downloaded the latest version that's compatible with MM3 and it works like a charm (I've used this script for quite a long time with MM2 and I'm always amazed with what MusicIP comes up with). Please note, however, that in the configuration window of the script, it still shows the version as 1.8 - shouldn't it be 1.9?

I can't seem to get this to work either.

I already had Music IP Mixer installed before I tried this. I installed this script, and checked the enabled box in its option page in MB. It isn't clear to me from the instructions if M IP needs to be actually running at the time you use it, or if just installing it is enough, so I ran it to be on the safe side.

I played a track, the track ended, and nothing happened. No new tracks are added to Now Playing. (Vista in case it matters. I ran the script installation elevated to administrator)

Am I missing something?
