1) If the folder you are scanning is a subdirectory of the folder configured in MediaMonkey for Virtual CDs or Previews, MM will silently refuse to add tracks to the Library.

2) This remains true in the free version, even though Virtual CDs don't work in this version!

I simply changed the Virtual CD folder to NOT be a parent of my tracks folder and it started working!

Simple once you know, but a nasty little "feature" with no useful error messages.

Make sure that under the add files/scan option that you have selected ALL the file types that you would like to scan into the library. From symptoms, perhaps MP3 is not selected. Also, under options general make sure that MP3 is a selected file type. Hope this helps.

Ok, this is weirder than I thought. I have just retested this by installing 2.5.5.980 RC-1 over the top of 2.5.1, clearing the library, and rescanning the Music share on my NAS box.

Reminder- the file structure on the NAs is:

Music
...MP3
...OGG
...Unreal (these are unreal tracker files MediaMonkey will not recognise)

Again, MediaMonkey ignores the 820-odd mp3 files under the mp3 directory, and puts only about 30 OGG tracks in the library. This is despite the fact that MM lists all 880+ tracks in the "All" view, so I knows the files are there.

I thought that this was MM failing to rescan files, but the OGG files are rescanned correctly, it's almost as if MM is failing to recognise the .mp3 extension during the rescan. Any idas on how to track this down much appreciated.

I think I might have found a general case of my earlier bug report.

My media files are all stored on a network share on my NAS box, with this structure-

Music
...MP3
...OGG
...Unreal

(then Artist/Album/Track under each file type)

The first time I scanned for tracks I think I Included only the MP3 folder in the scan.

After some problems I decided to clear the library, then rescan the whole Music folder. This time, even though the "All tracks" list shows over 880 tracks, None of the MP3 files (over 800 of them) are being added to the library?!

This relates to my earlier bug report. it seems as if, once a track has been "seen" by the file scan, it cannot later be added to the library again, even if the original library entry has been removed.

It actually seems as if removing/reinstallling mediaMonkey (or at least deleting and recreating the library database) will be necessary to get MM to "see" any track it has seen before, weird.
