I agree.. especially if the old plugin stops working when Last.fm updates their protocol.

Anyone have any thoughts about making a "plugin" versus a last.fm script?

Here is last version of that plugin hosted on my MM fansite it is some sort of customized beta and works for me and MM at least few months.

Note: Cause can't find original link to it I hosted it on my fan site. If someone thinks that I violate some rights please let me know with URL link of file whom rights I violate ASAP.
I can't be responsible for anything happened if using plugin from link above, I'm not in any case involved in development of that file and could not give any support.

The plugin is:
Audioscrobbler for Winamp v 1.1.10 (gen_audioscrobbler.dll)
They are updating the feed structure to version 1.2 and i don't know then if they will keep protocol version 1.1.
Probably u can use the DLL fine up until then but later on u might HAVE to use the last.fm software. Unless of course the DLL is updated ;)

Could u please provide me wiht a link to the creators HP? i only seem to find a ml_ version but no gen_ version.

Thx Red

As am I, which is why I was a little confused. I had forgotten that the newer last.fm app works as RedX describes.

RedX, I don't plan on using your script--I just wanted to see if you were aware that there is a plugin that does what you are attempting.

The thing about not caching that worries me: aside from if you're not online, if last.fm times out, or your internet is too slow, it's going to miss tracks, right?

Could you explain this a little.. I am not sure how your plugin is any different other than it doesn't properly cache songs..
As far is i know, in the last version of the winamp plugin from last.fm u have to have the Last.fm-player always running. Please correct me if i'm wrong but that's the only plugin i'm aware of for winamp.
I thought it's just more convenient if i have a script that does that for me.

Is delayed sending of the data important to you?
Just so that you know if u delay the sending by more than 10 songs some might not be correctly registered by the last.fm server. It's a server side bug that's documented on the audioscrobbler wiki.

Best regards,
Red

Any thoughts?
Any chance u are runing the script on a limitd account? Not admin?
Are you on Windows 95/98 or on ME?

i need to determinate the timezone and up until now i need admin privileges.

If that's the case i can see if i can get it any other way.

If none of the above apply then try redownloading the script.
I did a minor modification but it should solve the problem.

Red

Last.fm v0.3

by RedX » Fri Jan 19, 2007 1:31 pm

It's done!

I know there is a plugin for winamp that works with MM but still i did not like it so i made a small script that does exactly the same thing.

I did not understand the inno setup really so if anyone is willing to help i'd appreciate if anyone could ehlp me with making a setup.

note for the security freaks: the password is not stored as clear text anywhere. As soon as u press OK it is converted into MD5 hash and only that value is stored. The fact that the textbox shows your password cleartext is because i didn't find one with password-mask in MM.

There are two files:
last.fm.vbs that goes in the scripts folder
and
last.fm.cfg.vbs that goes in the auto folder

add following entry to the scripts.ini file:

Code: Select all

[lastfm]
Filename=last.fm.vbs
ProcName=lastfm
Order=4
DisplayName=&Last.fm
Description=Send list with listened tracks to your profile at Last.fm
ScriptType=2
Language=VBScript
I haven't debugged it much. Especially what happens on timeout or slow internet connections.

This version does not cache your listened songs, meaning that if u're not online the moment u listen to the song it will not be sent later. This function will come in future versions if ppl see any need of it.
