I've spent a good deal of time recently setting up a new system in which I can organize tracks using keywords/tags inside of the custom3 field. for example, one custom3 entry might look like:
techno, nolyrics, slow, partymix05, mattmix06, susiemix06
So then I can just search for one or more keywords. This has the advantage over sorting by directories, of course, in that you can cross reference--slow + nolyrics, for example, if I wanted study music. I'm not using the genre fields, btw, because there aren't enough of them: tempo, mood, occasion, quality, rating=5; I want to be able to add an infinite number of tags so I can basically keep track of not only the song's genre but also any mixes I've ever put it in, etc.
SEARCH
Right now it takes too freaking long to search for my tags! To do the cross reference I mentioned, I have to go to the advanced search and set up the individual criteria. It'd be much nicer to be able to:
1. select to only search the custom3 field in the main search box (like you can currently limit it to title, artist, and album)
2. enter advanced search strings in the search box like "nolyrics AND slow"
3. one other search future that would be nice---the option to search inside of the list I'm currently looking at. So if I'm looking at the top-most "All" then it'd return the same result as typical search. But If I was just looking inside one directory it'd just filter that directory down.
So those are things I'd like to see in 3.0. Though if anyone can think of anyway to achieve comparable functionality with the current version, I'd be all ears.
MAGIC NODES
Can anyone think of any way have magic nodes to list out all my unique keywords even though there are several keywords in each custom3 field? That'd be really nice.
thanks!
