It has been requested already, so no need to anymore.

I agree that it should be an option to display it.

I hope that a future release will incorporate this option. Maybe I should post it in the Wish List forum?

Thanks for your help.

Well it isn't the tracknumber. It is the order number that the song appears in on the list of songs displayed, at least that is what you should see.

If it is the track numbers you should see the number as well in the properties window.

I as well find it hugely annoying when I'm editing songs (I do have some songs with numbers in the titles that need to be edited out). That is why it has been requested before to have these numbers displayed in a seperate column (which could be set to not to be displayed) or get rid of them all together (they don't add information for me).

So you are saying that it is normal for the track numbers to be displayed in the Title?
It is annoying!!

Well the properties window is how it is written to the DB and to the tags (If that option is selected). So you're fine, these numbers are put by MM in certain nodes. It has been requested before that these numbers would be eliminated or given a seperate column as it is confusing (and some find it annoying). A seperate column could be turned off by users who don't care for that information.

Oops - answering your second question - "If you do edit properties of the track does the edit properties window show the track number in front of the title as well?"

When I do Edit Properties, the track number does NOT show in front of the title.

Thanks again for your reply.

Hi Lowlander,

It shows up in all nodes (Album, Artist, etc). Let me try to explain.

When highlighting 'Album' or 'Artist', the numbering does not show up in the Title. But, as soon as I highlight a particular artist, or album, within the node, the numbering appears at the beginning of each Title.

Strangely enough, it does not appear in the same format as what is in the filename (as I said previously, my format for filename is: Daryl Hall & John Oates - Greatest Hits - 01 - Say It Isn't So.mp3) because I have leading zeros in the filename.

I would like to know if this is a bug.

Thanks much for your help.

In which window/node are you viewing the title. In playlists and the Now Playing window MM shows a number in front of the title, which isn't part of the title in the tags, but the ranking on that list itself.

If you do edit properties of the track does the edit properties window show the track number in front of the title as well?

I have it on two different installs of MM, and I can't see what could be causing it. Unless it is my file naming convention, but I don't see that as being that out of the ordinary.

Anyone have any ideas?

I get this too on my laptop copy but I think that the desktop copy doesn't do this.

Track # in Filename displaying in Title

by munman » Tue Jul 20, 2004 3:46 pm

My file name format is as follows:
<Artist> - <Album> - <Track#> - <Track Title>

Example:
Daryl Hall & John Oates - Greatest Hits - 01 - Say It Isn't So.mp3

When viewing the Title in MM, it displays as '1. Say It Isn't So', instead of 'Say It Isn't So'. I checked the tags for track and title, and they are correct (Title is 'Say It Isn't So, with no number).

Why is it displaying the Track# in the Title in MM?

Does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks.
