Could it have been triggered by some other activity being done at the same time as the rip?

Any more info might help....

I suppose it could be possible that it was certain cd's that caused the freeze up. Though, if I had a problem ripping a cd in MM3.. the older MM2.x was able to rip it just fine. I wish I could remember which cd's I happened to have in at the time of the freeze up, but I can not. Actually, I DO remember having a problem with Guns n Roses - Use Your Illusion II for sure. Um, and I wasn't doing anything else during the ripping process. I didn't have any other programs running at the time. I would just start ripping and walk away from the computer to do other things.

I was indeed using windows blinds. I forgot to turn it off for the MM3 version. I had to turn it off for 2.x for whatever reason, I don't remember. But, I just now turned it off for MM3 to see if that might have been the problem with the tree listing.. and there is no change. It is still all out of order.. not in alphabetical order. It's the weirdest thing.

No one else is having this problem?

Are they always non-alphabetical? I just tried this out and they seem to be listed correctly :-?

Okay, I was ripping to mp3. I used the default audio and mask settings.
The CD/DVD player I used is the one that came with my system. The system I use is a Compaq Presario SR1810NX Desktop PC (AMD Sempron Processor 3200+, 512 MB RAM, CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive) oh, and win xp if that helps any.

And yes, the order of directories is always non-alphabetical. Here is a screenshot to show you.

MM3A5: Ripping cd's to harddrive

Hi there.

I bought an external harddrive and have been ripping a heck of a lot of cd's to it. I'm probably only halfway through that project. But anyway, I was using MM2.5.5.998 for the bulk of the cd ripping process.. but I decided to download the beta test version MM3A5 and try it out.

I noticed that after ripping a certain amount of cd's (maybe 6 or so), my computer freezes up and I end up having to reboot my computer. Needless to say, after a few times of that.. I switched back to using the older more stable version of MM to rip.. and that is working out fine with no freeze up problems. So, I know it was MM3 that was causing the freeze ups. I also noticed that when I clicked on the browse folder button to choose the location of where I wanted to put the ripped music, the tree information was not in alphabetical order. It was in the order of when I made each new folder for whatever cd I ripped. I found that to be a little annoying since it made it harder to find the right folder if I happened to rip another album of the same artist.
